يا أَيُّهَا ذَا الوَطَنُ الْمُفَدَّى

تَلَقَّ بِشْراً وَتَمَلَّ السَّعْدَا

O you of the redeemed homeland

Receive good tidings and enjoy prosperity

لَمْ يَرْجِعِ العِيدُ مُرِيباً إِنَّما

أَرَابَ قَوْمٌ مِنْكَ ضَلُّوا الْقَصْدَا

The feast has not returned deceitful, but

A group of you went astray from the right path

يَا عِيدُ ذَكِّرْ مَنْ تَنَاسَى أَنَّنَا

لَمْ نكُ مِنْ آبِقَةِ العِبِدَّى

O feast, remind those who have forgotten that we

Were not part of the fleeing slaves

كُنَا عَلَى الأَصْفَادِ أَحْرَارَاً سِوَى

أَنَّ الرَّزَايَا أَلْزَمَتْنَا حَدَّا

We were free despite the shackles

Except that troubles have restricted us

كُنَّا نَجِيشُ مِنْ وَرَاءِ عَجْزِنَا

كَمُتَوَالِي الْمَاءِ لاقَى سَدَّا

We used to surge from behind our incapacity

Like successive waters meeting a dam

حَتَّى تَدَفَّقْنَا إِلى غَايَتِنَا

تَدَفُّقَ الأَتِيِّ أَوْ أَشَدَّا

Until we surged to our goal

With the surge of the coming flood or stronger

وَكُلُّ شَعْبٍ كَاسرٍ قيُودَهُ

بِالْحَقِّ مَا اعْتَدَى وَلاَ تَعَدَّى

And every people breaking its chains

Rightfully did not transgress or exceed limits

فَلَم نَكُنْ إِلاَّ كِرَاماً ظُلِمُوا

فَاسْتَنْصَفُوا وَلَمْ نَطِش فَنَرْدَى

We were only honorable people who were wronged

So they sought justice and we did not oppress in retaliation

إِنِّي أُحِسُّ فِي الصُّدُورِ حَرَجاً

يُقِيمُهَا وَفِي الزَّفِيرِ صَهْدا

I feel discomfort in the chests

That makes them rigid and sighing

إِيَّاكُمُ الْفِتْنَةَ فَهْيَ لَوْ فَشَتْ

فِي أَجَمَاتِ الأُسْدِ تُفْنِي الأُسْدَا

Beware of sedition for if it spreads

Among the lairs of lions, it destroys the lions

أَما رَأَيْتُمْ صَدَأَ السَّيْفِ وَقَدْ

غَالَ الفِرِنْدَ ثُمَّ نَالَ الْغِمْدا

Have you not seen the rust of a sword when

The scabbard is expensive but takes the sheath

فَلاَ تَفَرَقُّوا وَلاَ تنازَعُوا

أَعدَاؤُنا شُوسٌ وَلَيسُوا رُمْدا

So do not divide or dispute

Our enemies are watchful, not sleepy

أَخَافُ أَنْ نُمْكِنَكُم مِنَّا بِمَا

يَقْضِي لَهُم ثَأْراً وَيشْفِي حِقْدَا

I fear that we give them from us what

Would avenge them and heal their hatred

أَوْ أَنْ نُقِيمَ حُجَجاً دَوَامِغاً

لَهُمْ عَلَيْنَا فَنَجِيءَ إِدَّا

Or that we provide them lasting arguments against us

So we bring permanent destruction

قَدْ زَعَمُوا الشُّورَى لَنَا مَفْسَدَةً

عَلَى صَلاَحِهَا أَقَالُوا جدَّا

The advocates of monopoly, if you do not stop

And watch out, miserable will be the outcome

وَهَلْ أَزَلْنَا مُسْتَبِداً واحِداً

عَنَّا كَدَعْوَاهُمْ لِنَسْتَبِدَّا

With the sincerity of consultation we all advise

For if we doubted, it would deliberately kill us

دُعاةَ الاسْتِئْثَارِ إِنْ لَمْ تَنْتَهُوا

وَتَرْعَوُوا سَاءَ المَصِيرُ جِداً

In every people, its ethnicities multiplied

Nothing like justice preserves the bond

بِصِحَّةِ الشُّورى نَصِحُّ كُلُّنَا

فَإِنْ أَرَبْنَا قَتَلَتْنَا عَمْدَا

Share in ruling and choose for it

The best of every doctrine that can be accepted

فِي كُلِّ شَعْبٍ كَثُرَتْ أَجْنَاسُهُ

لاَ شَيْءَ كَالْقِسْطِ يَصُونُ العِقْدَ

For the insightful might see in it readiness

That the far-sighted do not see from afar

تَشَارَكُوا فِي الْحُكْمِ وَاخْتَارُوا لَهُ

خِيَارَ كُلِّ مِلَّةٍ يَستَدَّا

The lamp that accompanied it

Is more radiant than the star, more well-guided

فَقَدْ يَرَى الْبَصِيرُ مِنْهَا كَثَبَا

مضا لاَ يَرَاهُ الاَبْصَرُونَ بُعْدَا

Cooperate to rise high for if you conflict

Over debris you will not achieve glory

إِنَّ السِّرَاجَ الَّذِي جَاوَرَهُ

أَجْلَى مِنَ النَّجْمِ سَنىً وَأهْدَى

The most precious inheritance in your hands so take care of it

He who estimated provision avoided loss

تَعَاوَنُوا تَرْقَوْا فَإِنْ تَنَافَرُوا

عَلَى الحُطَامِ لَمْ تَصِيبُوا مَجْدَا

Our state, our state, we mention it

With souls that bleed for it passionately

أَغْلَى تُرَاثٍ فِي يَدَيْكُمْ فَاحْرِصُوا

مِنْ قَدَّرَ الذُّخَر تَفَادَى الفَقْدَا

Mother who gives birth, who buys with wealth and hearts are redeemed

I fear orphanhood upon it, for I see

دَوْلَتُنَا دَوْلَتُنَا نَذْكُرُهَا

بِأَنْفُسٍ تَدْمَى عَلَيْهَا وَجْدَا

The matter of orphanhood is sweeter than flowers

And you, my nation, I want you

أَلْحُرَّةُ المُنْجِبَةُ الأُمُّ الَّتِي

بِالْمَالِ تُشْرَى وَالْقُلُوبِ تُفْدَى

In my hope, wise and right-guided

My nation, through knowledge you rise high

إِخْشَوْا عَلَيْنَا الْيُتْمَ مِنْهَا فَلَقَدْ

أَرَى أَمَرَّ اليُتْمِ أَحْلَى وِرْدَا

And gain esteem and praise

And through harmony you possess your command

وَأَنْتُمُ يَا أُمَّتِي أُرِيدُكُمْ

عِنْدَ رَجَائِي حِكْمَةً وَرُشْدَا

And gain a serene, comfortable living

So whoever differs, be patient with him, he

يَا أُمَّتِي بِالعِلْمِ تَرْقَوْنَ الْعُلَى

وَتَكْسِبُونَ رِفْعَةً وَحَمْدَا

Is bound to return, no doubt

Is he not repentant to his life

وَبِالْوِفَاقِ تَمْلِكُونَ أَمْرَكُمْ

وَتَغْنَمُونَ الْعَيْشَ طَلْقَاً رَغْدَا

Who glimpses misfortune that insisted

If a brother strays, gently reproach

فَمَنْ يُخَالِفْ صَابِرُوهُ إِنَّهُ

لَذَاهِبٌ فَرَاجِعٌ لاَ بُدَّا

Until his prohibition returns him back

When will I see the easterner as one thing

أَلَيْسَ تَائِباً إِلى حَيَاتِهِ

مَنْ لَمَحَ الخَطْبَ بِهَا قَدْ جَدَّا

As I see the westerner as individual

When will we be a nation that agrees

فَإِنْ غَوَى أَخُْو نُهىً فَمُهْلَةً

حَتَّى يَرُدَّهُ نُهَاهُ رَدَّا

Without boredom, firmly holding on

How many nations before us united

مَتَى أَرَى الشَّرْقِيَّ شَيْئاً وَاحِداً

كَمَا أَرَى الغَرْبِيَّ شَيْئاً فَرْدَا

And accomplished through it esteemed status

Its children stood around it like pillars

مَتَى أَرَانَا أُمَّةً تَوَافَقَتْ

لا مِلَلاً مُمْتَسِكَاتٍ شَدَّا

So they spread its portico extending

It strove toward its goal with intention

كَمْ سَبَقَتْنَا أُمَّةٌ فَاتَّحَدَتْ

وَأَدْركَتْ شَأْناً بِهِ مُعْتَدَّا

Of insistence, until it attained its purpose

By your life, this is a tradition

قَامَ بَنُوهَا كَالعِمَادِ حَوْلَهَا

فَبَسَطُوا رُوَاقَهَا مُمْتَدَّا

By which past nations were saved when they united

So that our eagerness for survival would refuse

سَعَتْ إِلَى غَايَتِهَا قَصْداً عَلى

تَثَبُّتٍ فَبَلَغَتْهَا قَصْدَا

That a condition comes upon us and we can't help

Like the remaining ruins upon its structures

بِلْكَ لَعَمْرِي سُنَّةٌ نَجَا بِها

مِنْ قَبْلُ أَقْوَامٌأَنَتَحَدَّى

Neither inhabited nor furnished

I composed my advice out of love for you

لِيَأْبَ حِرْصُنَا عَلَى البَقَاءِ أَنْ

جَدَّتْ بِنَا حَالٌ وَلا نَجِدَّا

And had I scattered it, it would not increase love

Its expressions are dewy with my tears

كَالطَّلَلِ الْبَاقِي عَلَى إِقْوَائِهِ

لا عَامِراً يُلْفَى وَلا منْهَدَّا

Over the rough and meanings more succulent

I sent it with the conscience as it came

نَصِيحَتِي نَظَمْتُهَا وَدَّاً لَكُمْ

وَلَوْ نَثَرْتُ لَمْ أَزِدْهَا وُدَّا

And I did not strain myself in it out of effort

I care about my homeland, I'm most truthful to it

أَلْفَاظُهَا نَدِيَّةٌ بِأَدْمُعِي

عَلَى التَّلَظِّي وَالْمَعَاني أَنْدَى

And I don't care about detractors' criticism

أَرْسَلْتُهَا مَعَ الضَّمِيرِ مِثْلَمَا

جَاءَتْ وَمَا أَفْرَغَتُ فِيهَا تجُهْدَا

إِنِّي أُبَالِي وَطَنِي أَصْدُقُهُ

وَمَا أُبَالِي لِلْوُشَاةِ نَقْدَا
