هذِهِ لَيْلَةٌ وَنَاهِيكَ فِي الدَّهْـ
ـرِ بِهَا مِنْ يَتِيمَةٍ غَرَّاءِ
This is a night—and, in all the sweep of time, what more need be said
than that it is one of a kind, radiant and fair?
خَلَعَتْ حُلَّةَ السَّوَادِ وَلاَحَتْ
فِي دِثاَرِ مِنْ بَاهِرِ الَّلأْلاَءِ
She cast off her robe of black and appeared
in a mantle of dazzling radiance.
فَمَصَابِيحُ تَمْلأُ الأَرْضَ نُوراً
وَمَصَابِيحُ مِثْلُهَا فِي السَمَاءِ
Lamps fill the earth with light,
and lamps just like them shine in the sky.
