What is her Fijeh Spring, for all its limpid water?
She is a nation whose soil has been watered with her blood.
Do you not see the mettle she displays in defending
her watering-place? By God, how splendid her valor!
Battles of heroes—against the enemy charge
within them, from among her sons, men who refuse oppression.
Were it not for my wasting illness, I would have been among those present for her
on the day of sacrifice, and I would have been among her martyrs.
