شمائل العلياء فيكم

كابراً عن كابر

The traits of the noble are in you

Great above every great one

يا لطف ما أبدعت في

سفارة المسافر

Oh what fine qualities you have shown

In receiving the traveler

ذاك جميل يا جميـ

ـل الخلق والمآثر

That is beautiful, O most

gracious in manners and feats

تلق حمداً صادراً

عن أصدق المصادر

Receive praise flowing

from the truest sources

يشف منه بعض ما

تكنه سرائري

It heals some of what

my inner self harbors

وأرفع إلى فخامة الرئيـ

ـس شكر الشاعر

And I send to the excellency of the president the poet's thanks

How many favors I have

كم لكما لو أحصيت

نعماً كما من شاكر

if counted, as many as those thankful

Among the people of Levant

بين بني الشام من

باد بهم وحاضر

both resident and traveler

And the elite Arabs in the

ونجباء العرب في الـ

ـأوطان والمهاجر

homelands and emigrants

Long live the president, his days

عاش الرئيس حافل الـ

ـأيام بالمفاخر

filled with pride

And his righteous companions in the

وصحبه الأبرار في الـ

ـعهد الجديد الزاهر

new splendid era

And may you remain in the care of God,

ودمت في رعاية اللَـ

ـه العلي القادر

the Most High, All Powerful
