سَلْمَى مِنَ الأَرْبَعِ الغَوَالِي
إِحْدَى الفَريدَاتِ فِي الَّلآلِي
Salma is one of the unique four,
Among the radiant beauties of the night.
تُزْفُّ فِي عِزِّ وَالِدَيْهَا
إِلَى فَتًى نَابِهِ الخلاَلِ
She is wed to a young man,
Whose smile gleams between his lips.
إِلَى أَدِيبٍ سَمِحٍ أَرِيبِ
مُهَذَّبِ القَوْلِ وَالفعَالِ
A cultured poet, eloquent and refined,
Of graceful speech and deed.
قَدَّمَهُ جِدُّهُ وَأَعْلَتْ
مَكَانَهُ حُرَّةُ الخِصَالِ
His grandfather brought him up,
And his noble traits placed him high.
فَاخْتَطَبَ السَّعْدُ فِي فَتَاةٍ
رَبِيبَةِ الجَّاهِ وَالدَّلاَلِ
Good fortune came to a maiden,
A darling of prestige and favor.
عَرُوسُ شِعْرٍ بِهَا ضرُوبٌ
مُنُوَّعَاتٌ مِن الجَمالِ
A bride of poetry, embodied
In varied forms of beauty.
قَلْبٌ عَفِيفٌ عَقْلٌ حَصِيفٌ
وَجْهٌ بِنُورَيْهِمَا مُلاَلِي
A chaste heart and wise mind,
Her face shines with both their lights.
يَدُ صُنَّاعٍ فِي كُلِّ فَنٍ
تَبْلُغ فيهِ أَعْلَى مِثَالِ
An artisan’s hand in every art,
Reaching the highest ideal.
إِذَا تَجَلَّى الكَمالُ فِيهَا
فَأمُّهَا صُورَةُ الكَمَالِ
When perfection manifests in her,
Her mother is the image of perfection.
لَمْ أَرَ فِي المُنْجِبَاتِ أَحْرَى
مِنْهَا لِمَدْحٍِ فِي كُلِّ حَالِ
Of all the females I've seen
None is more deserving of praise.
أَمَّا نِقولاَ الأَخُ المُفدَّى
فَآيَةٌ النُّبْلِ فِي الرجَالِ
As for brother Niquola,
He is the model of nobility among men.
مَا شِئتَ حَدِّثْ عَنْ مَحْمَدَاتٍ
وَعَنْ مَعَانٍ وَعَنْ مَعَالِي
Say what you will of her virtues,
Her principles, and her ideals.
عنْ فِطْنةٍ لا يَكَادُ يُخْفَى
فِي الحَالِ عَنْهَا وَجْهُ المَآلِ
Of her shrewdness, nothing escapes
Its deeper meaning and outcome.
عَنْ بَسْطَةٍ فِي السَّخَاءِ تَكْفِي
مُؤَمِّلِيهِ ذُلَّ السُّؤَالِ
Of her open-handed generosity,
Relieving those who seek her aid.
يَأْخُذُ لِلْعَاثِرَينَ جَدّاً
بِالثَّأْرِ مِنْ سَطْوَةِ اللَّيالِي
Taking serious vengeance,
Against the tyranny of nights.
يَا أَصْدِقَائِي قُروا عُيوناً
وَلاَ عَدَاكُمْ رَفَاهُ بَالِ
O friends of mine, delight yourselves
In comfort, leaving worry behind.
يَهْنِيء سَلمَى وَزَوْجُ سَلْمَى
مَا حلَّ مِنْ نِعْمَةِ الوِصالِ
Congratulations to Salma and her groom,
On the blessing of their union.
وَبَارَكَ اللهُ فِي قِرَانٍ
