يَا مَنْ نُهَنِّيءُ بِالسِّيَامَةِ أُسْقُفاً

شَرَفاً فَأَنْتَ بِمَا بَلَغْتَ حَقِيقُ

O you whom we congratulate on the ordination as bishop

An honor, so you are in truth with what you have attained

لَمْ تَقْنِ جُهْدِكَ نَاشِئاً وَمُنْشِئاً

في الصَّالِحِيَّة وَالصَّلاحُ طَريقُ

You did not fail in your diligence as a novice and founder

In righteousness and rectitude is the path

حَتَّى بَدتْ فِي القُدْسِ آيَاتٌ مَحَتْ

كِسَفَ الدُّجَى فَإِذَا الغُرُوب شُرُوقُ

Until signs appeared in Jerusalem that erased

The darkness, so the sunset became sunrise

وَزَكَتْ غِرَاسُ مَعَارِفٍ وَفَضَائِلٍ

بِالحَمْدِ يُذْكَرُ عَهْدُهَا المَوْمُوقُ

And the saplings of knowledge and virtues grew

Thanks to its remembered era, hoped for

عَهْدٌ بِمَا أَنْجَحْتَ فِيهِ مِنَ المُنَى

لاَ الفَضْلُ مَنْقوصٌ وَلاَ مَسْبُوقُ

An era in which you succeeded in wishes

With no shortcoming of merit or being preceded

وَلَقَدْ تَقَاضَتْ قِسْطَهَا مِمَّنْ نَمَتْ

حَلَبٌ فَكَانَ لِمَا رَجَتْ تَحْقِيقُ

And it collected its share from whom it grew

Milking, so for what it aspired was realization

نَدَبَتْكَ لِلْعِبْء الجَسِيمِ فَلَمْ تَضِقْ

ذَرْعاً وَذَرْعُ الأَقْدَرِينَ يَضِيقُ

It called upon you for the great burden, but you did not feel narrowed

An arm’s length, though the arm’s length of the very capable feels narrowed

وَأَطَقْتَ فِي نَفْعِ الشَّبَابِ وَهَدْيِهِمْ

مَا لَمْ يَكُنْ جَلْدٌ سِوَاكَ يَطِيقُ

And you endured in benefiting and guiding the youth

What no other skin besides yours could endure

تُفْنِي الجُهُودَ مُثَقِّفاً وَمُؤَلِّفاً

وَالوَحْيُ فَيْضٌ وَاليَقِينُ وَثيقُ

You expend efforts educating and authoring

While revelation is grace and certainty is firm

فَاليَوْمَ يَظْفَرُ بِالجَزاءِ مُجَاهِدٌ

تُقْضَى لَهُ ذِمَمٌ بِهِ وَحُقُوقُ

So today the struggler succeeds in reward

Dues owed to him and rights are fulfilled

عَدْلاً يُثَابُ العَامِلُ المِقْدَامُ فِي

سُبُلِ الهُدى وَالعَالِمُ المِنْطِيقُ

In justice the active striver is rewarded in

The paths of guidance and the well-mannered scholar

تَقْلِيدُهُ الحُلَلَ السَّنِيَّةَ وَالحِلى

عِيدٌ يَرُوعُ بِحُسْنِه وَيَرُوقُ

His wearing the canonical gowns and adornments

A feast pleasing in its beauty and agreeable

فَالدَّارُ جَذْلَى وَالسَّماءُ مُضِيئَةٌ

وَالحَشْدُ يَهْزَجُ وَالنِّظامُ أَنِيقُ

The house is bright and the sky illuminated

The crowd is joyous and the order elegant

يَا مَنْ نُهَنِّئهُ وَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ

أَدَّى الأَمَانَةَ وَالحِسَابُ دَقِيقُ

O you whom we congratulate and know

He fulfilled the trust and the account is precise

نَرْجُو لَكَ التَّوْفِيقَ فَاذْهَبْ رَاشِداً

وَلِمَنْ سَتَرْعَاهُمْ بِكَ التَّوْفِيقُ

We wish you success, so go well-guided

And those you will shepherd success through you

يَا صَفْوَةَ الشَّعبِ الَّذِينَ عَقَدْتُمُ

حَفْلاً لأُسْقُفِنَا الجَدِيدِ يَلِيقُ

O elite of the people who have held

A celebration for our new bishop, fitting

بَكْفِيهِ أَنَّ المُوسعِيهِ حَفَاوَةً

لَهُمُ بِمِصْرَ المَوْضِعُ المَرْمُوقُ

It suffices that the generous ones a

Lofty position for them in Egypt

حَيَّوْهُ عَنْ ثِقَةٍ بِمَنْ وَلَّى وَمَا

فِي فِعْلِهِمْ مَذْقٌ وَلاَ تَزْوِيقُ

Greet him out of confidence in whom he appointed and what

In their action is neither taste nor embellishment

دَامَ التَّعاطُفُ بَيْنَنَا وَإِمَامُهُ

رَاعِي الرُّعَاةِ السَّيدُ البِطْرِيق

May camaraderie between us and its leader endure

The master of pastors, the Patriarch

هُوَ قَائِدٌ لاَ جُبْنَ فِي أَجْنَادِهِ

هُوَ وَالِدٌ مَا فِي بَنِيهِ عُقُوقُ

He is a leader with no cowardice in his armies

He is a father, no filial impiety in his children

لِلصَّدْقِ وَالصَّبرِ الجَّميلِ نُجِلُّهُ

أَفَمَا يُجَلُّ الصَّابِرُ الصِّدِّيقُ

For true and beautiful patience we revere him

Does not the patient, truthful one deserve reverence?

بِالحَقَّ قدْ مَلَكَ القُلُوبَ وَإِنَّهُ

بِالحُبَّ مِنْهَا وَالوَلاَء حَقِيقُ

He has indeed won hearts and he

With love and loyalty is true
