Serenity, O noble daughter of the Khouri family,

And happiness in the evenings and mornings.

You are, O bride of poetry, created

With the temperament of dew and light.

Every beauty refused except to be compared

    To your eyes and maidens.

Nor did the virgins match you with justice

    Of mind and pure heart.

Greeted like the morning, you have purity

That could almost heal the innermost soul,

And words that hint of amiability

As the breeze hints of perfume.

A composure that shames the delicate branch,

With flowers and gentleness in gait.

Your manners are created without fault

For you have lived without criticism.

I attempt, in brief words, to describe

What you have been given of abundant virtue.

In my hope is the adornment of a generous angel,

Beyond what verse or prose can contain.

For you deserve the love of a noble soul,

    Lofty in sentiment and feeling.

    John, though not audacious,

Is worthy of the best of any sweet companion.

A young man of two noble lineages,

    Yet not arrogant or conceited.

Lofty in what he seeks for his dignity,

    Glorious in his journey.

And his resolute soul is not content

With anything less than the most serious cause.

Gentle in nature, his youth still ahead,

In him are the traits of a great man.

So God has blessed a wedding in weddings,

A glorious sun to a shining full moon!

And O twin moons of our dwellings, congratulations!

May your marriage last, ever joyful,

With goodness, and flourish in safety and prosperity

The length of days in the ink of destiny.

May the beauty of your happiness add majesty

    With righteous, pious offspring abundant!
