1. أَقْبَلْتَ يَا عِيدَ الْقِرَانِ

    وَجَلاَ سَنَاكَ النِّيرَانِ

    The Feast of the Quran has arrived,

    its lamps blazing bright.

  2. فَالشَّعبُ يَهْتِفُ لِلْمَلِيكِ

    وَلِلْمَلِيكَةِ بِالتَّهانِي

    The people cry out to the King

    and Queen with congratulations,

  3. وَفُؤَادُ مِصْرٍ ضَارِعٌ

    لَهُمَا بِتَحْقِيقِ الأَمَانِي

    While Egypt’s heart pleads

    for the realization of their hopes.

  4. زَيْنُ الشَّبابِ صَبَاحَةً

    وَسَمَاحَةً وَعُلُوَّ شَأْنِ

    The flower of youth, gracious

    and sublime in station—

  5. أَهْدَتْ إِلَيْهِ عِنَايَةُ اللهِ

    الْفَرِيدَةَ فِي الْغَوَانِي

    God’s care gifted her, the unique pearl.

    She appeared as if among humans

  6. فَتَمَثَّلتْ وَ كَأَنَّها

    فِي الإِنْسِ مِنْ حُورِ الْجِنَانِ

    one of the maidens of Paradise,

    Never a stranger, her place

  7. لَمْ تَغْتَرِبْ وَمَكَانُهَا

    فِي قُرْبِهِ أَسْمَى مَكَانِ

    is closest in proximity.

    In four years their dawn

  8. فِي الأَرْبَعِ السَّنوَاتِ مِصْبَ

    احَاهُمَا يَتَأَلَّقَانِ

    has brilliantly shone,

    And their life of contentment

  9. وَيَزِيدُ عَيْشَهُمَا رِضًى

    قَلْبَاهُمَا الْمُتَآلِفَانِ

    increases—their hearts reconciled.

    They perfected the ideal of family

  10. جَلَوَا كَمَالَ الْبَيْتِ فِي

    أَبْهَى مِثَالٍ لِلْعِيَانِ

    in the finest example for all to see,

    And lit up in that sky

  11. وَأَضَاءَ فِي تلك السَّماءِ

    عَلَى التَّعاقُبِ كَوْكَبَانِ

    like two stars in succession.

    Rejoice in this feast and its

  12. أحْبِبْ بِهَذَا الْعِيدِ وَالزِّ

    ينَاتِ فِيهِ وَالأَغَانِي

    adornments and songs,

    And friends sharing

  13. وَتَنَاقُلِ الأَصْدِقَاءِ

    رَنَّاتِ الْمَثَالِثِ وَالمَثَانِي

    the triplets and octets,

    The East from end to end

  14. يَتَقَاسَمُ الأَفْرَاحَ فِيهِ

    الشَّرْقُ مِنْ قَاصٍ وَدَانِ

    sharing in the joys,

    The Nile’s channel—how excellent!—

  15. كَيْفَ الْكِنَانَةُ كَيْفَ وَا

    دِي نِيلِهَا وَالضِّفتَانِ

    and its two banks.

    O you who joined two crowns

  16. يَا مُدْمِجاً تَاجَيْ مِنَا

    فِي تَاجِ فَارُوقِ الزَّمَانِ

    into the crown of the era’s pioneer

    And who honors the two symbols—

  17. وَمُشَرِّفَ الرَّمْزَيْنِ سَيْفِ

    مُحَمَّدِ وَالصَّوْلَجَانِ

    the sword of Muhammad and the royal insignia—

    Have you seen how your people

  18. أَرَأَيْتَ شَعْبَكَ كَيْ

    فَ يُبْدِي بِشْرَهُ فِي الْمِهْرَجَانِ

    express their joy at the festival?

    Have you grasped the meaning of reform

  19. أَرَأَيْتَ مَا مَعْنَى الصَّ

    لاحِ إذَا تَصَوَّرَتِ الْمَعَانِي

    when you envision its implications?

    Exalt with what you have attained for your Egypt

  20. أَعْظِمْ بِمَا بَلَّغْتَ مِصْرَكَ

    فِي الْيَسِيرِ مِنَ الأَوَانِ

    in this brief time,

    Revealing how justice

  21. فَأَبَانَ كَيْفَ الْعَدْلُ ق

    ادَ لَكَ الرِّقَابَ بِلا عِنَانِ

    has led the servile by the reins,

    And how clemency entices

  22. وَأَبَانَ كَيْفَ الْحِلْمُ يَسْ

    تَلُّ الْحُقُودَ مِنَ الْجَنَانِ

    the resentful from their hatred,

    And how with cultivation

  23. وَأَبَانَ كَيْفَ مَعَ الثَّقَ

    افَةِ يَنْتَقِي سَبَبُ الْهَوَانِ

    the causes of humiliation are selected,

    And how the awe of the bared, sharpened sword prevails.

  24. وَأَبَانَ كَيْفَ مُهَابَةُ السَّ

    يْفِ المُجَرَّدِ وَالسِّنانِ

    And how your planting has produced

    selfless benefactions,

  25. وَأَبَانَ مَا آتَتْ غِرَاسُكَ

    مِنْ أَفَانِينِ المَجَانِي

    In every region the signs

    of your righteousness and affection were seen.

  26. فِي كُلِّ نَاحِيَةٍ بَدَتْ

    آثَارُ بِرِّكَ وَالحَنَانِ

    The dispossessed gained their share

    of esteem and station,

  27. أَخَذَ السَّوَادُ بِقِسْطِهِ

    مِنْهَا فَآبَ عَزِيزَ شَانِ

    And a portion of livelihood

    and clothing and housing.

  28. وَأَفَادَ حَظّاً فِي الْغِذَاءِ

    وَفِي الْكِسَاءِ وَفِي الْمَبَانِي

    An enemy of a people

    assailed them with sharp tongues,

  29. أَعْدَى الْعَدُوِّ لأُمَّةٍ

    عَلَيْهِ مِنْ نَارِ الطَّعانِ

    But victory is triumph

    for dignity, safety, and security.

  30. وَالنَّصرُ نَصْرٌ لِلْكَرَامَةِ

    وَالسَّلامَةِ وَالأَمَانِ

    Acts of splendor—

    their verses humbled rhetoric’s verses.

  31. آيَاتُ فِعْلٍ بَاهِرٍ

    أَعْجَزْنَ آيَاتِ الْبَيَانِ
