يَا وَزِيراً لَيْسَ الطَّبِيبُ لأَفْرَادٍ

وَلَكِنَّه طَبِيبُ البِلاَدِ

O minister, the doctor is not for individuals,

But he is the doctor of the country,

يَكْثُرُ الصَّالِحُ الْمُرَادُ وَلَكِنْ

صِحَّة الشَّعبِ فَوْقَ كُلِّ مُرَادِ

Good intentions abound, but

The health of the people is above all intentions,

لَيْسَ بِدْعاً وَقَدْ دَعَوْتَ إِذَا

لَبَّت نُفُوسُ الأَعِزَّةِ الأَمْجَادِ

It is no wonder that you called when

The souls of the honorable glories answered,

كَيْفَ مِصْرُ تَعَافَتْ وَأَضْحَتْ

بِبَنِيهَا مَصْدُوقَةَ التَّعدَادِ

How could Egypt recover and become

Trustworthy in its people and stable in its numbers,

لَكَ شُكْرٌ حُقُوقُهُ لاَ تُوَّفَى

وَفَخَارٌ يَبْقَى عَلَى الابَادِ

Thankfulness is owed to you, it cannot be fully repaid,

And pride remains forevermore.
