يَا مَنْ عَشَاؤُهُمُ شَفَى
مَرَارَتِي وَالكَبِدَا
O you whose dinner cured
my bitterness and my liver!
نَهَضْتُ فِي الصُّبْحِ معَافى
وَزَرَعْتُ البَلَدَا
I rose in the morning healed
and sowed the land
كَالبَطَلِ المعْتَزِّ بِالقُوةِ
يَمْشِي صَيِّدَا
like a hero proud of his strength
walks hunting
طَلَبْتُ نَداً غَيْرَ أَنِّي
مَا وَجَدْتُ أَسدَا
I sought prey but alas
I did not find a lion.
