1. لَيسَ فِي الجَوِّ اعْتِدَالٌ

    هُوَ قرٌّ ثُمَّ حَرُّ

    The air is not temperate,

    It is cold then hot,

  2. هُوَ حَالٌ ثُمَّ حَالٌ

    هُوَ حَرٌّ ثُم قَرُّ

    It is a state then a state,

    It is hot then cold,

  3. كُلُّ مَنْ تَلْقَاهُ يَشْكُو

    عِلَّتي حَلْقٌ وَصَدْرُ

    All whom you meet complain

    Of hoarseness of voice and chest,

  4. وَالأَذَى مَا فِيه شَكٌّ

    جَاءَهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ يَدْرِي

    And there is no doubt the harm

    Comes from where one knows.
