To Egypt I come from Syria

With greetings of honor to the honorable

    Greetings overflowing with praise

Like the breeze, scented with flowers

I was assigned to her and my confidence emboldened me

Judging myself by the worth of the reformers

    When good and gratitude prevail

    Exchanging sincerity and harmony

My beloved homelands, out of love

I am the link in this system

A link not out of vainglory

My inferior opinion obliges my position

But out of firm loyalty to me

And close care for the covenant

Smile at me, O port of Beirut

Listen to the duty of kindness through a smile

O sea, lend me your precious pearls

    To thread into speech

    O forests of sacred Lebanon

Renewed from old vigor and valor

I see you have tender feelings

Your affection was mentioned, aroused from love

    Give me pure kindred souls

To convey the greetings of peace

My country, your love remains with me

    As it was before weaning

I kiss your soil where enemies

    Cast filth, missing the target

I sacrifice myself for every frozen arrogance

Which fell from the bombs of the despicable mob

How can the whelp lie slaughtered?

Its bones crushed on the dusty ground

How can the child be killed though guiltless?

    Its innocence undefiled by guilt

By the justice of the impartial

Are not the desperate blamed for blaming?

God has made the ambitions barren where they settled

For that is the worst corruption of peace

    Troubling pure water

And spreading disease through drinking places

To kill the safe and say " console yourself -

Your bath is no dove's bath"!

You will be happy with what heals you soon

And enjoy, after sinking, the high position

    Either you live free

    A peak of aspiration

Or you contribute to the heights

Your strings aimed at the heights

An era has passed when neighbor sheltered neighbor

And the unlawful was taken for the weak

This is an age of rivalry

With no limit, to gain ruins

Whatever you wish is permitted - take it

By right of opinion or right of sword

Don't heed the wailing of victims

Or your conscience's plaint in darkness

Masters of greed, you haven't mentioned

What steps up asleep, the law

So let no weak one be weakened

Or seen as fit food for the lion's grip

We understand the course of the aggressor against us

And excuse of the august rulers

The alternative to an age in which

The arrogance of the people ruled the titans

A time when one people prevailed over another

And reduced it to the status of slaves

So a people of kings - what were

Their degrees, and a people of tyrants?

Between the two races a difference in kind

    Despite all being human

I say, and the East has awakened terrified

From a state like a dream

At the roar of thunder defending it

And the dance of death between its hills and sands

I say with its voice to the defenders of a house

Pelted by rebels of the West, throwing spears

The pride of Arabs and Turks refusing oppression

Eagles of Syria, lions of the thickets

The heroes of the age on horse and foot

Stars appearing from behind the veils

We are sick with luxury, so wake us

    With zeal curing finer slumber

The numbness of stillness is in us - warm us

With fever of leaping where fear is red

In us the deafness of hearing - so startle us

With the clashing of steel when swords meet

    You have brought mighty proof

    That we return to perfection

That if we err or slip

We refuse to be blamed by force

I am here, having failed to keep

    Our tryst, discerning the conclusion

If words seem decorated, we spurn

Using them like the tricks of wine

In this hope we walk steadily

    Guided toward the imam

I stand lifting my veneration for my people

    To Abbas the intrepid king

To the king of solidarity and kinship

Leader of the East after the imam

    I proclaim my utmost capacity

In praising his brother, the lofty summit

Perfecting the emirate of the sublime origin

With overflowing merit like the origin's tower

And I pray God empowers Egypt

    And grants it eternal Sa’ud
