  6. What undertaking he has tended has not reached

    the highest goal? And that is no wonder.

  7. Thought works, taking every path

    toward progress and opening every door.

  8. This troupe was reached by his kindness

    and became strong in its bonds again.

  9. The devotees of art in it bring forth

    rare works from the gifts of the Bestower.

  10. Among them, the seasoned, trained performer is followed

    by a budding one, fresh of aspect.

    A lover of acting takes

    history back through the ages,

  12. and lovers of proverbs set them forth

    for posterity, those who follow and those who came before.

  13. They seek perfection under Farouk’s protection,

    and success is measured by the ambition pursued.

  14. The road to perfection is rugged, but

    its course overcomes difficulties.

  15. O great visitor, may God reward

    your kindness with the finest reward.

  16. All the thanks the garden can compose cannot

    repay the clouds’ bounty, however grand.

  17. Perhaps silence speaks more eloquently in praise

    and more fully; in it lies the decisive word.

  19. O king through whom God has protected Egypt

    from the world’s reversals and the scourge of suffering:

  20. the world comes to scorching waters, whereas

    her draught is of sweet, fresh drops.

  21. The arts flourish for her, while calamities

    pass her by and security takes hold.

  22. That comes from the guiding monarch’s genius,

    and counsel achieves what weapons cannot.
