دَعاني جمالُكِ فيمن دَعَا
فلَّبيتُه مُسرعاً طيِّعا
Your beauty called to me among those who called
So I obeyed hastily, compliantly
حَشَدْتُ له من عَبيدِ الهَوَى
عَطاشَى مُحَلأةً جُوعاً
I mustered for it slaves of passion
Thirsty, sated with hunger
عواطِفَ لم تغذُ منها السنون
رجاءً ولا أنعشت مَطْمَعاً
Emotions time did not nourish
With hope or revived ambition
ترامَت على عَذَبَات الشِفاهِ
حائرةً مَقْطَعاً مَقْطعاً
Wandering upon sweet lips
Confused, piece by piece
ولاحَت بَريقاً وُقيتِ الصِبا
وعادت رَماداً فلن تَسْطعا
Shining with the saliva of youth
Only to return to ashes, never to shine
اسّيَدتي ما أرقَّ الحجابَ
يُثير الفُضولَ وما أبْدعَا
My lady, how opaque is the veil
That excites curiosity and is perfectly made
لقد حِرتُ أيّاً من الفِتنَتْين
أصُدُّ سناكِ أم البُرْقُعا
I was confused which of the two temptations
To block, your brilliance or the face veil
