1. وَأَعطى اِبنُ قُرطٍ غَداةَ السُلَي

    مِ لَمّا اِلتَقَينا عَطاءً جَزيلا

    The son of Qurṭ gave generously one morn

    When we met, with ample gifts -

  2. كَفَيتَ بِها مازِناً كُلَّها

    أَصاغِرَها وَكَفَيتَ الكُهولا

    Enough for all the clan of Māzin,

    Elders and youth alike, and all the nobles.

  3. كِرامٌ أَبى الذَمَّ آبائُهُم

    فَلا يَجعَلونَ لِلَومٍ سَبيلا

    Noble men whose fathers scorned reproach

    And gave no opening to blame,

  4. عِراضُ الخُدودِ كِرامُ الجُدودِ

    يَمُدّونَ لِلمَجدِ باعاً طَويلا

    Cheeks ruddy, ancestry renowned -

    Reaching far for glory and renown.
