مِنّا فَتى الفِتيانِ وَالجودِ مَعقِلٌ

وَمِنّا الَّذي لاقى بِدِجلَةَ مَعقِلا

From us a youth among youths, a fortress of generosity

And from us one who met Ma'qil at the Tigris

وَمِنّا أَميرا يَومِ صِفّينَ وَالَّذي

أَعادَ قَضاءَ الأَشعَرِيِّ مُغَربَلا

And from us the commander on the day of Siffin, and he who

Sent back the judgement of al-Ash'ari unsettled
