ما لُمنا عَميرَةَ غَيرَ أَنّا
نَزَلنا بِالعُرَيجِ فَما قُرينا
We found no fault with ʿUmayrah, except that we
alighted at al-ʿUrayjāʾ and were shown no hospitality.
ظَلِلنا مُرمِلينَ بِيَومِ سَوءٍ
وَقَد لَقِيَ المَطيُّ كَما لَقينا
We remained without provisions through a day of misery,
and the mounts indeed endured what we endured.
