لَولا أَن يَسوءَ بَني رِياحٍ
لَقَلَّعتُ الصَفائِحَ عَن صَفيحِ
Were it not that it would distress the sons of Riyah,
I would have torn the stone slabs away from Safih.
إِذا عَدَّت صَميمَهُمُ رِياحٌ
فَلَستَ مِنَ الصَميمِ وَلا الصَريحِ
When Riyah counts its trueborn kin,
you are neither of the true stock nor of pure descent.
هَبَنَّقَةُ الَّذي لا خَيرَ فيهِ
وَما جَعلُ السَقيمِ إِلى الصَحيحِ
Habannaqah, in whom there is no good—
and how can the sick be set beside the healthy?
