سَنُخبِرُ أَهلَنا بِقِرى حِماسٍ

سَنُخبِرُ أَهلَنا بِقِرى حِماسٍ

وَنُخبِرُ ما فَعَلتَ أَبا خُفافِ

وَنُخبِرُ ما فَعَلتَ أَبا خُفافِ

We shall tell our people of Ḥimās’s hospitality,

and tell them what you did, O Abū Khufāf:

تَعَذَّرُ لِلنَزيلِ وَكانَ عِرقٌ

تَعَذَّرُ لِلنَزيلِ وَكانَ عِرقٌ

لَنا في اِبنَي نُمَيرَةَ غَيرُ جافِ

لَنا في اِبنَي نُمَيرَةَ غَيرُ جافِ

you make yourself unavailable to the guest, though there was a blood tie

between us and Numayrah’s two sons that had not run dry.
