إِنَّ النَدى مِن بَني ذُبيانَ قَد عَلِموا
وَالمَجدَ في آلِ مَنظورِ بنِ سَيّارِ
Indeed, generosity among the sons of Dhubyān—as they well know—
The glory of the clan of Dhubyan is known
and glory dwell in the house of Manẓūr ibn Sayyār.
And glory to the family of Manzur bin Sayyar
الماطِرينَ بِأَيديهِم نَدىً دِيَماً
بِكُلِّ غَيثٍ مِنَ الوَسمِيِّ مِبكارِ
Who rain down bounty with their hands in steady showers,
Who rain continuously with their hands gentleness
With every early-falling shower of the autumn rains.
With every downpour from the rain-laden clouds
تَزورُ جارَتَهُم وَهناً جِفانُهُمُ
وَما فَتىً لَهُمُ وَهناً بِزَوّارِ
Their serving bowls visit their female neighbor late at night,
Their neighboors visit them in their sickness and weakness
But no young man of theirs goes calling late at night.
And they have no young men remaining for revenge
تَرضى قُرَيشٌ بِهِم صِهراً لَأَنفُسِهِم
وَهُم رِضىً لِبَني أُختٍ وَأَصهارِ
Quraysh is pleased to have them as its own kin by marriage,
The Quraysh are satisfied with them as in-laws
And they are pleasing to a sister’s sons and to in-laws.
And they are satisfied with the sons of their sisters and in-laws
