ولما سعى الساعون أن نهجر الوغى

ونمنح للمغلوب من فضلنا مهلا

When the opportunists tried to abandon the turmoil

And grant the defeated a respite out of our grace

عقدنا مع اليونان للحرب هدنةً

على طلب منهم فكانوا اليد السفلى

We negotiated with the Greeks a truce for war

At their request, yet they were the lower hand

هو النصر مقروناً به العزُّ لم تزل

بألسنة الأيام آياته تُتلى

Victory paired with glory has never ceased

Its signs being recited by the tongues of days

أقول لمن قد بات يجهل مجدنا

سل السيف عنا والفتوَّة والنُبلا

I say to those who remain ignorant of our glory

Ask the sword about us, and the gallantry and nobleness

لسلطاننا عبد الحميد سياسة

طريقتها في المعضلات هي المثلى

Our Sultan Abdul Hamid has a policy

Its method in dilemmas is the finest

سللت لنصر الدين سيفَ عزيمة

فللتَ به ما لم يكن فلُّه سهلا

I asked Saladin, sword of resolution

So you broke with it what was not easily broken

فجّهزت جيشاً للجهاد عرمرما

قهرت به ذاك العدو الذي ولّى

So I prepared a clamorous army for jihad

I subdued with it that enemy which had fled

نُهنِّيك بالفتح المبين الذي به

تسامى منار للشريعة واستعلى

We congratulate you on the evident conquest by which

The minaret of Sharia has risen high
