انقضت ظهري الحياة فلا اد

ري متى ارمي عبئها الممقوتا

The noon of my life has passed, yet I know not

When I shall throw off its wearisome load.

سأقاسي الشقاء ما دمت حيا

واذم الحياة حتى اموتا

While I live I shall bear this grievous woe,

And reproach life until I am dead.
