هُدُوّاً فَهاجَ القَلبَ شَوقاً وَأَنصَبا
Was it from you, O Buthn, that a phantom journeyed by night, returning?
In the stillness it stirred the heart to longing and left it weary.
عَجِبتُ لَهُ أَن زارَ في النَومِ مَضجَعي
وَلَو زارَني مُستَيقِظاً كانَ أَعجَبا
I marveled that it visited my bed while I slept;
Had it visited me while I was awake, it would have been more wondrous.
