وَإِنّي لَأَستَحيِي مِنَ الناسِ أَن أُرى

رَديفاً لِوَصلٍ أَو عَلَيَّ رَديفُ

I'm ashamed before people when I'm seen

As one who comes after a connection or one after whom comes connection

وَأَشرَبَ رَنقاً مِنكِ بَعدَ مَوَدَّةٍ

وَأَرضى بِوَصلٍ مِنكِ وَهُوَ ضَعيفُ

And I drink the wine of your love after affection

And I'm content with a connection from you, though it's weak

وَإِنِّيَ لِلماءِ المُخالِطِ لِلقَذى

إِذا كَثُرَت وُرّادُهُ لَعَيوفُ

I'm like turbid water, mixed with mud

If many dip into it, it becomes more turbid
