وَيَعجِبُني مِن جَعفَرٍ أَنَّ جَعفَراً
مُلِحٌّ عَلى قُرصٍ وَيَبكي عَلى جُملِ
I love Ja’far for being cheerful and playful
Yet weeping for his beloved camel
فَلَو كُنتَ عُذرِيَّ العَلاقَةِ لَم تَكُن
بَطيناً وَأَنساكَ الهَوى كَثرَةَ الأَكلِ
If you were my intimate friend, you would not be
So full of mud, and desire would not make you eat so much
