1. الخّيرُ ما طَلَعَتْ شَمسٌ ومَا غَرَبَتْ

    مُطَلَّبٌ بِنواصِيً الخَيلِ، مَعصُوبُ

    Goodness has shone as long as the sun rose and set

    Sought by the forelocks of horses, bound

  2. صُبّتْ عَلَيْهٍ ومَا تَنْصَبُّ من أَمَمٍ

    إنَّ البَلَاءَ على الأشْقَيْن مَصْبُوبُ

    Poured upon it, and it does not pour from anxieties

    Indeed, affliction is poured upon the wretched
