Neither dawn's charm, nor darkness crouching
When it breathes light into its folds,
Nor birds taking wing, calling to birds released
With the most beautiful and woody of trills,
Nor roses like cheeks when they bloom
In gardens, their fragrance spreading,
Nor drops of dew waiting
For bees in petals, and honey to tend them,
Are as beautiful as May when she smiles
Beneath her veil, her cheeks shining at me,
Tomorrow May will leave me with longing
I will endure, sighing, moaning for her.
