أجل يعلم الحبُّ أني لظاهُ

وتدري الفراشة أنّي اللهب

Yes, love knows that I am intense

And the butterfly knows that I am flame

وأني بدوتُ لها في الظلام

فرفّت بأجنحةٍ تضطرب

And that I appeared to her in the darkness

So she fluttered with restless wings

وبين ذراعيَّ سرُّ الحياة

وفي ناظريَّ بريقُ الشُّهُب

And between my arms is the secret of life

And in my eyes is the sparkle of embers

دنت خطوة ثم عادت إلى

مجاهِلها من خفيّ الحجُب

She approached one step then returned to

Her unknowns from behind the veil

وشتّان بين السنا والظلام

لعابدةٍ للسنا عن كثب

And there is a huge difference between brilliance and darkness

For a worshipper of brilliance from up close

وفي صدرها لهفة للعناق

وفي قلبها جنةُ المغترب

And in her chest is a longing for embrace

And in her heart is an expatriate's paradise

يلوح لها شبحٌ للعذاب

ويبدو لها الأبد المقترب

An illusion of torment appears to her

And eternity seems to be approaching her

كأن اللظى قدحٌ من سلافٍ

لها فوقه وثباتُ الحبب

As if the flames were a drink from wine

With embers jumping over it

فراشة روحي تعالي وثُوباً

ستلقين قلباً إليكِ يثب

Butterfly of my soul come to me

You will find a heart that leaps to you

إذا ما امتزجنا احترقنا معاً

ونلنا الخلود بهذا العطَب

If we unite we will burn together

And attain immortality through this passion
