    عَلَم لف شهيداً في عَلَم

    How can those who cry for the fallen

    Weep for a flag wrapped around a martyr in a flag

  4. يا شباب النيل فتيان الحمى

    وحماة الدار أشبال الأجم

    Oh youth of the Nile, brave boys

    And guardians of the home, cubs of valor

  5. زعموكم أمة هازلة

    كذب الزاعم فيما قد زعم

    They claimed you are a frivolous nation

    The claimant lied in his claim

  6. تتحداهم على طول المدى

    ثورة نكراء شبت تلتهم

    You challenge them across the horizon

    A fierce revolution grown to devour them

  7. ومقال الدهر عنا في غد

    وحديث المجد عن عبد الحكم

    And the saying of fate about us tomorrow

    And the talk of glory about Abdel Hakim

  8. كم أغر في بواكير الصبا

    ناضر يسحب أذيال النعم

    How naive in the first blooms of youth

    A blossoming flower dragging robes of blessings

  9. طبعه الجود فلما هتفت

    مصر تدعوه تناهى في الكرم

    His nature is generosity, so when

    Egypt called him, he exceeded in nobility

  10. قدم الروح إليها ومشى

    ثابت الخطوة جبار القدم

    He gave his soul to her and walked

    Steady in step, mighty in stride

  11. كلفته اليقظة الكبرى بها

    همة ترعى وعيناً لم تنم

    She tasked him with the great vigilance

    A determination that guards and an eye that never sleeps

  12. جشمته خطة دامية

    وعرة المسلك حفت بالألم

    His nostrils sniffed a bloody plot

    And the rugged path was fraught with pain

  13. يجد الموت بها لذته

    ويرى العار إذا المرء سلم

    Death finds its pleasure in it

    And shame when a man surrenders

  14. يا لهذي الجنة الفيحاء كم

    فتحت قبراً لباغٍ قد ظلم

    Oh this lush garden, how many

    Graves has it opened for an unjust aggressor

  15. يصبح الصبح على هذي الربى

    فإذا الورد ضحوك في الأكم

    Dawn breaks over this land

    And roses smile coyly among the thorns

  16. فإذا أمسى المساء انقلبت

    فوهة شعواء ترمي بالحمم

    When evening comes it turns

    Into a flaming mouth spewing embers

  17. لست تدري إذ تراها ظمئت

    فروى الأحرار واديها بدم

    You do not know that when you see it thirsty

    The free have watered its valley with blood

  18. ذاك لون الورد أم لون الردى ال

    جاثم أو لون الحميم المضطرم

    Is that the color of roses or the color of decay

    Crouching, or the color of burning flames?

  19. يا شباب النيل فتيان الحمى

    وحماة الدار أشبال الأجم

    Oh youth of the Nile, brave boys

    And guardians of the home, cubs of valor

  20. حطموا القيد الذي حطمكم

    واجعلوا أمتكم فوق الأمم

    Break the shackles that broke you

    And make your nation above all nations

  21. وإذا استشهد منكم بطل

    جاده الغيث وحيته الديم

    And when a hero among you is martyred

    The rain will mourn him and the blood will hail

  22. ولقد أدى لمصر دينه
