    تلفت تجد مصرا بأجمعها هنا

    The wish we attained was a wish for ourselves

    You'll find all of Egypt gathered here

  2. وما بعجيب موطن البدر في العلى

    وما بجديد أن يرى الأفق مسكنا

    It's no wonder the full moon resides on high

    Nor is it odd that the horizon is seen as home

  3. ولكن قلب الحر تعروه نشوة

    فيثني على الآلاء وضاحة السنا

    But the free heart is filled with rapture

    And so it praises the benevolence and beauty of the radiance

  4. إذا أخذ البدر المنير مكانه

    وملك آفاق السما وتمكنا

    When the shining moon takes its place

    And rules the horizons of the sky and settles in

  5. إذا الملك المحبوب قدر سيداً

    وعن رأيه في الفضل والنبل أعلنا

    When the beloved king is decreed a master

    And of his wisdom in nobility and merit we proclaim

  6. فعن ثقة ممن يحب ويحتبي

    وإيمان قلب بات بالحق مؤمنا

    It's from the trust of one who loves and shelters

    And the faith of a heart that's a true believer

  7. سلاماً مليك النيل أنت ربيعه

    وأنت مغنيه وفي ذاتك الغنى

    Greetings, Nile king, you are its spring

    You are its song, and within you lies the melody

  8. فذلك تكريم الربيع لروضة

    جلاها الأباظيون وارفة الجنى

    So it is spring's honoring of the garden

    Made glorious by your forefathers, abundant in harvest

  9. أجل روضة صارت لكل عظيمة

    وللفضل والآداب والعلم موطنا

    Yes, a garden made great for every noble soul

    And a home for merit, etiquette, and knowledge

  10. وميدان سباقين للمجد والعلى

    إذا اشتجرت أخرى الميادين بالقنا

    A field where two race for glory and honor

    While other arenas are filled with reed plants

  11. من الأدب العالي إذا راح سيد

    غدا آخر نحو اللواء فما ونى

    When a master of high manners departs

    Another hastens to the banner, never wavering

  12. عصي القوافي سار نحوك مسرعاً

    ولبَّاك من أقصى الفؤاد وأذعنا

    Poetry's meters marched swiftly to you

    And obeyed you wholeheartedly and submitted

  13. وأنت الذي فك القيود جميعها

    عن الشعر تأبى أن يهان فيسجنا

    You who unbound all the shackles

    Refusing to let poetry be disgraced and imprisoned

  14. إذا المعدن الصافي دعا الشعر مرة

    بذلنا له من أجود الشعر معدنا

    When the pure ore called to poetry once

    We offered it the finest poetry as its ore

  15. دسوقي إذا أقللت فاقبل تحيتي

    فما أنا شاديهم ولا خيرهم أنا

    Dusuqi, though you belittled I accept your greeting

    For I am neither their poet nor their best

  16. ولكنني صوت المحبين كلهم

    ومن روضك الغالي وبستانهم جنى

    Rather, I'm the voice of all the lovers

    And from your dear garden and their grove I picked

  17. فراشٌ على مصباح مجدك حائم

    وأي فراش من جلالك ما دنا

    A moth circling the lamp of your glory

    And what moth ever drew near your grandeur?

  18. وإني صدى الهمس الذي في قلوبهم

    فدعني أقم عما يكنّون معلنا

    I'm but the echo of the whispers in their hearts

    So let me proclaim what they conceal inside
