Turn your eyes away from me, I implore
I've no strength against their languor's spell
How can I recount my tale when you
Have silenced my tongue, made words rebel
Rhymes swiftly tend to wander and daydream
Scattering the phrases I try to knell
Slight them, and the rhymes will swell against you
Stormily, however sweet their well
The moon rules the tides and makes them bow
And obey its governance of their swell
What can ice do before the sun’s flames
When its branding iron descends pell-mell
