She laughs, unveiling her braided tresses,
While tears adorn her cheeks.
She is thrilled by wealth’s delight, and for beauty,
She has a zeal like wine’s inebriation.
You'd think she’ll never lose her charm,
As in her dreams, a fantasy gave her joy.
I gifted her, her youth, and told her:
“Say to him, if only words could double.”
“Don’t you see my glow and bloom?
Like stars, I don.
So why spurn me, if they compare you to us?
My dress of beauty perfectly matched.”
“O denier of glances that would roam,
As if his handsome face is sacrosanct!”
A man of dignity and wisdom pleases me,
Not one led astray by illusion.
Nor do I love suspect beauty,
Or one who takes blessings lightly.
Direct me to some barren land,
Where no feet would find their way.
Then none would sense my charm,
Or weep, if death erased me.
O unjust one, go gently with his beauty,
Do not cheapen beauty so cruelly wronged.
Allow a heart inflamed by you,
To yearn for your affection.
Then, as you bring about his demise,
Know all beauty meets the dust.
