قد جاءَ جَيْشُ الحُسْنِ في قَمَرٍ

نشر الذؤَابَةَ فَوقْه رَايَهْ

Beauty’s army has come embodied in a moon;

he unfurled his forelock above the host as its banner.

أُوتي النبوَّة في الجمالِ وقد

أُوتي النبوَّة في الجمالِ وقد

أَبدى العِذارَ لِقوْمِه آيه

أَبدى العِذارَ لِقوْمِه آيه

He was granted prophethood in beauty, and indeed

he showed his people the down upon his cheek as a miracle.

واوُ العذارِ بطِرْسِ وجْنَتهِ

واوُ العذارِ بطِرْسِ وجْنَتهِ

وَاوُ اليَمينِ بأَنَّه غايه

وَاوُ اليَمينِ بأَنَّه غايه

The wāw of his cheek-down, upon the parchment of his cheek,

is the oath’s wāw, swearing that he is beauty’s utmost perfection.
