مَدُحَتْ ليالْ بالعُذَيْبِ
بحمى غَزالٍ لا كُلَيْبِ
I praised the nights at al-ʿUdhayb,
under a gazelle’s protection—not Kulayb’s.
ومضت ولا عيب لها
إِلا المضيَّ بغيرِ عَيْبِ
They passed away, with no fault in them
except their passing away without a fault.
