ملوكٌ يحوزون الممالِكَ عُنْوةً

بِسُمْرِ العَوَالِي أَو ببيضِ القواضِب

Kings who seize kingdoms by force

With spears of lofty heights or bows of archers

رماحٌ بأَيديهم طوالٌ كأَنَّما

أَرادُوا بها تثقيبَ دُرِّ الكَواكِب

In their hands are long spears as though

They wanted with them to pierce the pearls of stars
