Your eyes allowed the devil into my heart
Eyes are truly the devils' allies
How many nights have I spent writhing in agony
Complaining to the stars until they nearly complained of me
Oh how alluring is the gazelle I am infatuated with
What creature is not infatuated with a gazelle?
Her mouth blossoms forth plants of cardamom
Watered with the likes of pearls from oysters
With two cheeks that are apples of my eye
So leave me be and the apples in the orchards
The allure of your eyes tempts me and commands me
The rose of your cheek entices me and excites me
But if I sold my faith and bought with it
Worldly goods, I would not have sold my faith for less
I seek God's forgiveness, no, by God, the verses
Of her eyelash's sorcery did not benefit me
Glory to Him who created all things
You see He molded that body from clay
Oh people of patience, and loved ones, do you have
Patience, if so, console me
I profess the faith of love, which rules over me
And God has said "No compulsion in religion"
My Master, do not let the enemies gloat over me, and if
You forget my words, recall what Aaron said
Reckon your desire by what I spent of my life
By God, if my life were like Qarun's treasure
If I had control over myself, oh she who torments it
I would have offered it to you as one of the sacrifices
