1. أبَا مُوسَى شَهِدتَ وَكُنتَ عَدلاً

    مُزَكَّى حَيثُ تَشتَجِرُ الخُصُومُ

    O Abā Mūsá, you were just when disputes arose,

    An arbiter whose integrity could not be impugned.

  2. فَإنَّكَ أفحَلُ الشُّعَرَاءِ طَبعاً

    إذَا نَفَخَت شَقَاشِقَهَا القُرُومُ

    You are the best of poets by natural gift,

    When their pipes were played by virtuosos most consummate.

  3. صِرَاطُكَ مُستَقِيمٌ وَهوَ صَعبٌ

    كَمَا صَعُبَ الصِّرَادُ المُستَقِيمُ

    Your path is straight though difficult indeed,

    As difficult as the steep straight path.
