1. إذا ما اِمتَطَيتُ الفُلكَ مقتحمَ البَحرِ

    وَولَّيتُ ظَهري الهندَ مُنشرح الصَدرِ

    If I set sail on a ship, braving the seas

    Turning my back on India, carefree and elated

  2. فَما لمليكِ الهِند إِن ضاقَ صَدرُهُ

    عليَّ يَدٌ تَقضي بنهيٍ ولا أَمرِ

    Why should the King of India frown

    When none can command or forbid me

  3. أَلَم يُصغِ للأَعداءِ سَمعاً وقد غدت

    عقاربُهم نحوي بكيدِهمُ تَسري

    Didn't he heed his enemies and see

    How their tricks against me slowly unfold

  4. فأوترَ قوسَ الظُلم لي وهو ساخِطٌ

    وَسدَّد لي سَهمَ التغطرُسِ والكبرِ

    So he strung his bow of injustice against me

    And shot arrows of arrogance and pride

  5. وَسَدَّ عليَّ الطُرقَ من كُلِّ جانِبٍ

    وهمَّ بما ضاقَت به ساحة الصَبرِ

    He closed the routes around me

    Trying what tolerance could barely bear

  6. إِلى أَن أَرادَ اللَهُ إِنفاذَ أَمرِهِ

    على الرَغم منه في مَشيئته أَمري

    Until God willed to fulfill His decree

    Defying him according to His desire, not the king’s

  7. فَرَدَّ عليه سهمَهُ نحوَ نحرِهِ

    وَقلَّد بالنَعماءِ من فضله نَحري

    So He deflected the arrow back at him

    And granted me priceless honor

  8. وأَركبني فُلكَ النَجاةِ فأَصبحَت

    على ثَبج الدأماءِ سابحةً تَجري

    He carried me on the ship of salvation

    Sailing smoothly through the sea of hardship

  9. فأَمسَيتُ من تلك المخاوفِ آمناً

    وَعادَت أُموري بعد عُسرٍ إِلى يُسرِ

    Thus I became safe from those fears

    And my affairs eased after hardship

  10. وَكَم كاشِحٍ قد راشَ لي سِهم كَيدِهِ

    هناك فأَضحى لا يَريشُ ولا يَبري

    And how many evil ones had shot arrows

    Whose shafts now will neither feather nor fly!

  11. وما زالَ صُنعُ اللَه ما زالَ واثِقاً

    به عَبدُهُ يُنجيهِ من حَيثُ لا يَدري

    God’s making remains forever faithful

    With Him, His servant is saved unknowingly

  12. كأَنّي بفُلكي حين مَدَّت جَناحَها

    وَطارَت مطارَ النسر حَلَّق عن وكرِ

    As if I see my ship spreading its wings

    And taking off like an eagle from its nest

  13. أَسفَّت على المَرسى بشاطئِ جُدَّةٍ

    فجدَّدَتِ الأَفراحَ لي طَلعةُ البَرِّ

    Yearning as it anchored on Jeddah’s coast

    Renewing my joy at the first sight of land

  14. وَهَبَّ نَسيمُ القُرب من نحو مكَّة

    وَلاحَ سَنى البَيتِ المحرَّم والحِجرِ

    The sweet breeze from Mecca arrived

    And the Sacred House and Black Stone appeared

  15. وَسارَت رِكابي لا تَمَلُّ من السُرى

    إِلى مَوطنِ التَقوى وَمُنتجَعِ البِرِّ

    My ride proceeded tirelessly

    To the land of piety and righteousness

  16. إِلى الكَعبَةِ البيتِ الحرام الَّذي عَلا

    عَلى كُلِّ عالٍ من بناءٍ ومن قَصرِ

    To the Glorious Ka’aba, the Sacred House

    Loftier than any towering palace

  17. فَطفتُ به سَبعاً وَقبَّلتُ رُكنَه

    وأَقبلتُ نحو الحِجر آوي إِلى حِجرِ

    I circled it seven times and kissed its corner

    To the Black Stone I came, taking shelter

  18. وَقَد ساغَ لي من ماءِ زمزمَ شَربةٌ

    نقعتُ بها بَعد الصَدى غُلَّة الصَدرِ

    And I had my fill of Zamzam’s cool water

    Dispelling the anguish deep within

  19. هنالك أَلفيتُ المسرَّةَ والهَنا

    وَفزتُ بما أَمَّلتُ في سالفِ الدَهرِ

    There I found joy and bliss

    And attained what I had hoped for in life

  20. وَقُمتُ بفرض الحَجِّ طوعاً لمن قَضى

    على الناس حجَّ البيتِ مُغتَنم الأَجرِ

    I hastened to complete the Hajj willfully

    As Allah had prescribed for people, a great reward

  21. وَسِرتُ إِلى تلك المشَاعِر راجياً

    من اللَه غُفرانَ المآثم والوِزرِ

    I headed to those holy sites, hopeful

    For Allah’s forgiveness of sins and evil

  22. وَجئتُ مِنىً وَالقَلبُ قد فازَ بالمُنى

    وما راعَني بالخَيفِ خَوفٌ من النَفرِ

    I came to Mina with a joyous heart

    Heedless of the crowded throngs

  23. وَباكرتُ رميي لِلجِمار وإِنَّما

    رَميتُ بها قَلب التَباعُدِ بالجَمرِ

    I was quick to stone the Jamarat

    Casting at the heart of separation fiery stones

  24. أَقمنا ثَلاثاً ليتَها الدَهر كلَّه

    إِلى أَن نَفرنا من مِنىً رابعَ العَشرِ

    Three days we stayed, would that it last forever!

    Till the tenth we left Mina behind

  25. فأبتُ إِلى البَيتِ العَتيق مودِّعاً

    له ناوياً عَودي إليه مَدى العُمرِ

    Then I bid farewell to the Ancient House

    Vowing to return for as long as I live

  26. ووجَّهتُ وَجهي نحو طَيبةَ قاصِداً

    إِلى خير مَقصودٍ من البرِّ والبَحرِ

    I set my sights on Taybah, heading

    To the Best of Destinations, on land and sea

  27. إِلى السيِّد البَرِّ الَّذي فاض بِرُّهُ

    فوافيتُ مِن بحرٍ أَسيرُ إِلى برِّ

    To the Lord of the land whose righteousness

    Abounds, so I came from sea to shore

  28. إِلى خيرَة اللَه الَّذي شَهِدَ الوَرى

    له أَنَّه المُختارُ في عالَمِ الذَرِّ

    To God’s Best Creation as all do witness

    The Chosen One in the world of creation

  29. فقبَّلتُ من مَثواهُ أَعتابَه الَّتي

    أَنافَت على هام السِماكَين والنَسرِ

    I kissed the threshold where he resides

    Above which heaven and stars do shine

  30. وعفّرتُ وَجهي في ثَراهُ لوجهِهِ

    وَطابَ لي التَعفيرُ إِذ جئتُ عن عُفرِ

    I rubbed my face in his soil

    Sweetly perfumed after washing away impurities

  31. فَقُلتُ لِقَلبي قد برئتَ من الجوى

    وَقُلتُ لِنَفسي قد نجوتِ من العُسرِ

    I said to my heart your burning is quenched

    To my soul I said you are safe from distress

  32. وَقُلتُ لعيني شاهِدي نورَ حضرَةٍ

    أَضاءَت به الأَنوارُ في عالَم الأَمرِ

    To my eyes I said behold the Radiant Light

    That illuminates the universe, do you know

  33. أَتَدرينَ ما هَذا المَقامُ الَّذي سَما

    عَلى قِممِ الأَفلاك أَم أَنتِ لم تَدري

    Do you know whose station this is that rose

    Above the celestial spheres – have you no clue?

  34. مَقامُ النبيِّ المُصطَفى خير من وَفى

    محمَّدٍ المحمود في مُنزَلِ الذِكرِ

    This is the station of Mustafa the Chosen One

    Muhammad the Most Praised in the Highest Company

  35. رَسولِ الهُدى بحرِ النَدى منبعِ الجدا

    مبيدِ العِدى مُروي الصَدى كاشِف الضُرِّ

    The Messenger of Guidance, the Sea of Blessing

    Source of Virtue, Destroyer of Harm, Dispeller of Affliction

  36. هو المُجتَبى المُختارُ من آلِ هاشِمٍ

    فَيا لك من فرع زَكيٍّ ومن نَجرِ

    He is the Selected One from Hashim’s clan

    What an excellent, pure branch and towering tree!

  37. به حازَت العَليا لؤيُّ بن غالبٍ

    وَفازَ به سَهما كنانة وَالنَضرِ

    Through him the Most High brought glory to Lu’ay’s line

    And he succeeded by the arrows of Kenana and Nadr

  38. قَضى اللَه أَن لا يجمع الفضلَ غيرُهُ

    فَكانَ إِليه مُنتهى الفَضلِ وَالفَخرِ

    God decreed that none shall gather virtue like him

    So he attained the utmost superiority and pride

  39. وأَرسلَه الرحمنُ للخلق رحمةً

    فأنقذهم بالنور من ظلمةِ الكُفرِ

    The Merciful sent him as a mercy to creation

    Saving them with his Light from darkness and unbelief

  40. وأَودَعهُ العَلّامُ أَسرارَ علمهِ

    فَكانَ عليها نعمَ مُستودَع السِرِّ

    The All-Knowing entrusted him with His secrets

    A most worthy confidant, trusted and discreet

  41. وأَسرى به في لَيلةٍ لسَمائِهِ

    فَعادَ وَجَيبُ اللَيل ما شُقَّ عن فَجرِ

    He took him by night on a journey to the heavens

    Then he returned as the horizon shone at dawn

  42. وأَوحى إليه الذكرَ بالحَقِّ ناطِقاً

    بما قد جَرى في عِلمهِ وبما يَجري

    He revealed to him the Honorable Quran

    Speaking of what occurred and what is to come

  43. فأَنزلَه في لَيلةِ القَدر جُملَةً

    بِعِلمٍ وما أَدراك ما لَيلَةُ القَدرِ

    He revealed it all one Blessed Night

    But what can you know of the Night of Power!

  44. ولقَّنهُ إِيّاهُ بعدُ مُنَجَّماً

    نُجوماً تُضيءُ الأفق كالأَنجُم الزُهرِ

    Then he recited it to him distinctly

    As guiding stars that illuminate the horizons

  45. مفصَّل آياتٍ حَوَت كلَّ حِكمةٍ

    وَمحكم أَحكامٍ تجلُّ عن الحَصرِ

    Verses detailing every wisdom

    Precise commandments beyond enumeration

  46. وأَنهضَه بالسَيف للحَيفِ ماحياً

    وأَيَّده بالفَتح منه وَبالنَصرِ

    He appointed him with the sword to remove injustice

    Supporting him with opening and victory

  47. فَضاءَت به شَمسُ الهداية واِنجلَت

    عَن الدين وَالدُنيا دُجى الغيِّ في بَدرِ

    Through him the sun of guidance shone radiantly

    Dispelling from the world the darkness of misguidance

  48. له خُلقٌ لَو لامَسَ الصَخرَ لاِغتدى

    أَرَقَّ من الخَنساءِ تَبكي عَلى صَخرِ

    His character, if it touched barren rock

    Would make it tenderly weep like the bereaved soul of Khnasa

  49. وجودٌ لو اِنَّ البَحرَ أُعطي معينَه

    جَرى ماؤُهُ عَذباً يمدُّ بِلا جَزرِ

    His generosity, were it the sea’s source

    Its water would flow sweetly with no ebb

  50. إِذا عبَّس الدَهرُ الضَنينُ لبائِسٍ

    تَلقّاه منه بالطَلاقة والبِشرِ

    When fate frowns on the downtrodden

    He meets them generously with a cheerful face

  51. وإِن ضَنَّ بالغيث السحابُ تَهلَّلت

    سحائبُ عَشرٌ من أَنامِله العَشرِ

    When the clouds refuse to rain

    His blessed fingers bring plentiful showers

  52. فَفاضَت على العافين كفُّ نَواله

    فَكَم كفَّ من عُسرٍ وكم فَكَّ من أَسرِ

    Bestowing freely on the destitute

    Relieving so much hardship and freeing many captives

  53. وَكَم للنَبيِّ الهاشميِّ عوارِفٌ

    يَضيق نطاقُ الحمد عنهنَّ وَالشكرِ

    And how many sublime traits the Hashimite Prophet has

    Too numerous even for praise and thanks!

  54. إِليك رَسولَ اللَه أَصبحتُ خائضاً

    بحاراً يَغيض الصَبرُ في لُجِّها الغمرِ

    To you O Messenger of God I now come

    Plunging into difficult seas that test all patience

  55. على ما براني من ضنىً صحَّ برؤه

    وَلَيسَ سوى رُحماك من رائِدٍ يَبري

    For the woes that have afflicted me

    None can guide me out of them but your mercy

  56. فأَنعِم سَريعاً بالشِفاءِ لمُسقَمٍ

    تقلِّبُه الأَسقامُ بطناً إلى ظَهرِ

    Quickly heal this ailing soul

    Tossed between maladies by fate

  57. وَخذ بنجاتي يا فديتُك عاجِلاً

    من الضرِّ والبَلوى ومن خطر البَحرِ

    Save me dear master without delay

    From harm, affliction and the dangers of the sea

  58. عليك صَلاةُ اللَه ما اِخضرَّت الرُبى

    وَماست غصونُ الروض في حللٍ خُضرِ

    May Allah bless you eternally

    As long as the meadows grow green

  59. وآلِك أَربابِ الطَهارة والتُقى

    وَصَحبِكَ أَصحابِ النَزاهة والطُهرِ

    And your Family of utmost purity

    And Companions of unblemished character
