The smile of the garden over the rose's lip,
The horizons unveiling the dawn's blush,
The flowers spreading their fragrance in the breeze's fold,
I passed by ornaments, perfumes, and stone.
Lightning flashed in the night around stony crags,
Renewing my longing for the lightning of your smile.
The cooing of doves in the trees,
Branches swaying in their green dresses.
Passion was stirred by memories of trysts;
Its fire burned my heart beyond solace or mention.
I lie awake, my heart sighs with every bird,
Its breaths scattering embers of passion.
My eyes will not dry though they weep
When the dove calls, racing to respond.
I stay up through the dark night,
Stars neither setting nor rising.
I long for the evening draft
To slake my thirst as the sun goes down.
Life being lush and youth verdant,
I sway like a branch with fresh leaves.
Nights I take no comfort in union or sleep,
Or soothing the wine of cares with patience.
