وإنّي غَريبٌ بين قومي وجيرَتي
وأَهليَ حَتّى ما كأَنَّهم من أَهلي
Though kinsmen, my people are strangers to me,
My family now so unfamiliar they seem.
وَلَيسَ غَريبُ الدار من راحَ نائياً
عن الأهل لكن من غَدا نائي الشكلِ
Not he is a stranger who wanders from home,
But he who at home becomes a stranger indeed.
فمن لي بخِلٍّ في الزَمانِ مُشاكلٍ
أَلُفُّ به من بعد طولِ النوى شَملي
In these trying times of such troubles and strife,
Who will stand by me with love shelter my life?
