حسنُ اِبتدائي بذكري جيرةَ الحرم
له بَراعةُ شَوقٍ تستهلُّ دمي
My poem begins by mentioning my neighbors near the Holy Mosque
Whose longing has a charm that ignites my blood
دَعني وعُجبي وعُج بي بالرسوم ودَع
مركَّب الجهل واِعقل مطلقَ الرُسُمِ
Leave me and my wonder and wonder at me with decorum and leave
The abode of ignorance and be reasonable in total deportment
بانوا فَهانَ دَمي عندي فَها نَدمي
على ملفَّق صَبري بَعد بُعدهمِ
They appeared so my blood became cheap to me, alas my regret
At my ripped patience after their distance
وَذيَّل الدمُ دَمعي يوم فرَّقهم
وَراح حبّي بلبّي لاحقاً بهمِ
The blood dragged my tears the day they separated
And my love went with my mind following them
يا زَيدُ زَيدَ المنى مذ تمَّ طرَّفني
وَقال هِم بهم تُسعد بقربهمِ
O Zaid, Zaid of wishes since they dismissed me
And said: be happy near them and you'll be blissful near them
كَم عاذِلٍ عادِلٍ عنهم يصحِّف لي
ما حرَّفته وشاةُ الظُلم والظُلَمِ
How many fair, just people slander me
Distorting what the ewes of injustice and darkness distorted
ما زِلتُ في حرق منهم وفي حزَن
مشوَّشَ الفكر من خَصمي ومن حكمي
I remain burnt by them and in sorrow
My thoughts disturbed by my antagonist and my judge
ظنّوا سلوّيَ إِذ ضنّوا فما لفظوا
بذكر أُنسٍ مضى للقَلب في إِضمِ
They thought consoling me was stinginess when they were stingy
To mention a past intimacy that delighted the heart
قدري أَبو حسنٍ يا معنويُّ بهم
ووصفُ حال ابنِه حالٍ بحبِّهمِ
My fate, Abu al-Hasan, is to love them
And the state of his son's state in loving them
أَجروا سوابقَ دَمعي في محبِّتهم
واِستطردوها كخيلي يوم مزدحَمِ
They raced the precedents of my tears in loving them
And diverted them like my steeds on a crowded day
ذَوى وريقُ شبابي في الغَرام بهم
من اِستعارة نار الشَوق والأَلَمِ
The leaves of my youth withered from borrowing the fire of passion and pain for them
The tied blood dragged my tears when they separated
وَلّوا بسخطٍ وعُنف نازحين وقد
قابلتُهم بالرِضا والرفق من أمَمِ
And my love went with my heart following them
How happy the gazelle would be if it could tell of their glance
وإِن هُمُ اِستَخدموا عَيني لرَعيهم
أَو حاولوا بذلَها فالسَعدُ من خَدمي
Or if you, oh gazelle, were comforted by their attention
I hoped for their return after reproach but
إِنَّ اِفتنانَهم في الحسن هيَّمني
قدماً وقد وطِئت فرقَ السُهى قدمي
They only returned to retract their antagonism
They said, ambiguously, we do wish
لفّي ونَشري اِنتهائي مبدئي شَغفي
مَعهم لديهم إِليهم منهم بهمِ
To see you gain flesh upon flesh
If they become intimate, my heart is not like theirs
ما أَسعدَ الظبي لو يَحكي لحاظَهم
أَو كنتَ يا ظبيُ تُعزى لالتفاتِهمِ
Can one shattered be matched to one intact?
I sent when their love was harmful to me as an example
أَمَّلت عَودَهم بعد العتاب وقد
عادوا ولكن إِلى اِستدراكِ صدِّهمِ
And poison may be in the syrup
My heart's choice made my molars ache for them and eliminated
قالوا وقد أبهموا إِنّا لنرغبُ أَن
نَراكَ من إِضم لحماً على وَضمِ
My existence and drew me to regret
They wanted integrity through insult and did
إِن أَدنُ ينأوا وما قَلبي كقلبهم
وَهَل يُطابَقُ مصدوعٌ بملتئِمِ
What upholding of covenants and promises does not accept
I joked seriously with my blamers and told them
أرسلتُ إِذ لذَّ لي حبِّهمُ مثلا
وَقَد يَكون نَقيعُ السمِّ في الدَسمِ
Beware the ugliness of the frown
I said mockingly to those who slandered me about them
تخييرُ قَلبيَ أَضناني بهم ومحا
منّي الوجود وأَلجاني إلى النَدمِ
You have been guided to separate words and judgment
They spoke, embellishing words whereby
راموا النَزاهةَ عن هَجوٍ وقد فَعَلوا
ما لَيسَ يَرضاه حفظُ العَهد والذِمَمِ
I understood, I said, the passion of the ignoble blamer
How they claimed their honesty one day though they weren't honest
هازلتُ بالجِدِّ عُذّالي فَقُلتُ لهم
أَكثرتم العذلَ فاِخشوا كِظَّة البَشمِ
I conceded that awaiting their honesty
They said we heard, and they do not hear, and they
تهكُّماً قُلتُ للواشين لي بهم
لَقَد هُديتم لفصل القول والحِكمِ
Kindled a fire at my side by their friction
I turned my way fairly to the wise approach and they
قالوا وقد زخرفوا قَولاً بموجبه
فهِمتَ قُلتُ هيامَ الصبِّ ذي اللَممِ
Said I tore the dress of honesty and wisdom
You were guided, my blamer, so stop your scheming
كَم اِدَّعوا صدقَهم يَوماً وما صدقوا
سلَّمتُ ذاكَ فما أَرجو بصدقهمِ
For it is not good save to leave their love
Do good or do evil, be hopeful or despair, come near or distance, judge or doubt, gather or disperse, descend or settle, depart or stay
قالوا سَمعنا وهم لا يَسمعون وقد
أَوروا بجنبيَّ ناراً باِقتباسِهمِ
One who hopes for his errant brother's integrity, his words
Will be inclusive of honesty not accusations
عدلتُ قَصداً لأسلوب الحكيم وقد
قالوا تَشا قلتُ ثَوبَ الصِدق والحكمِ
They said: Will you reconsider them later? I said: Yes
They said: Will you believe? I said: Honesty is my quality
هديتَ يا لائمي فاِترك موارَبتي
فَلَيسَ يحسنُ إِلّا ترك ودِّهمِ
And I will show them contradiction
When I grow old and the old age whitens with senility
أحسِن أسئ ظُنَّ حقِّق أدنِ أقصِ أطل
حُك وَشِّ فوِّف أبن أخفِ اِرتحل أَقمِ
I differed from others in loving them, for I
Love the slanderers to bring me closer to their hearing
من رام رشدَ أَخي غيٍّ هَدى وأَتى
كلامُه جامِعاً للصِدق لا التُهمِ
They adorned me with the scattered tears and they
Adorned themselves with their fine garments systematically
قالوا تُراجعُهم من بعد قُلتُ نعم
قالوا أَتصدقُ قُلتُ الصِدق من شيمي
I lacked appending my luck with them
Due to the long separation and the fleeting world until nothingness
وإِنَّني سَوفَ أوليهم مناقضةً
إِذا هرمتُ وشبَّ الشَيخُ بالهرمِ
After them, I distracted myself with slender branches but
I did not exclude those resembling them
غايرت غيري في حبِّهم فأَنا
أَهوى الوشاةَ لتقريبي لسَمعهمِ
I intended observing the peer for them
Of rose, myrtle and meadowsweet
هُم وشَّحوني بمنثور الدموع وقد
توشَّحوا من لآليهم بمنتظمِ
I raised my state to them when I was humbled and I
Directed my gaze to guide their messengers
عدمتُ تذييلَ حظّي حين قصَّره
طولُ التفرُّق والدُنيا إلى عَدمِ
I was elated in distance by depicting their nearness
And one may be embellished by the bliss of a dream
تشابَهَت فيهم أَطرافُ وصفِهمُ
ووصفُهم لم يُطقه ناطقٌ بفمِ
I blamed myself saying: old age warns me
While you, my soul, are stubborn against it today
أَنا الَّذي جئتُ تتميماً لمدحهم
نظماً بِقَولٍ يُباهي الدرَّ في القيمِ
No goodness in my honesty and determination unless I return you
Like restraining horses with halters
هجوتُ في معرض المدح الحسودَ لهم
فَقُلتُ إِنَّك ذو صَبرٍ على السَدَمِ
And I was guided to gracefully depart from
Slandering the noble messenger by praising the master of nations
لَم يَكتَفوا بي عميداً في محبّتهم
بَل كُلُّ ذي نظر فيهم أَراه عَمي
Muhammad Ahmad, the guide, giver of glad tidings
The son of Abdullah, pride of continuous honor
زادَ اِحتباكُ غَرامي يا عَذولُ بهم
فبرّئِ القلب من غيٍّ أَو اِتَّهمِ
The honor of the disgraced, the disgrace of the honored, hater of him
So wonder at the inversion of his enemies and their humiliation
نَتائجي اِتَّصلت والاتّصال بهم
عزٌّ وعزّي بهم فَخرٌ على الأُمَمِ
He is the partner, the most fulfilling partner, in
Banishing the partner without hesitation in oath
بهجرهم كم وَكَم فلَّ الهوى أمماً
وردَّ صَدراً على عَجزٍ بهجرِهمِ
The pure, the most high of glory, the appropriate match
For the potter, generous, of high principles
سَلَوتُ من بعدهم هيفَ القدود فَلَم
أستثنِ إِلّا غصوناً شُبِّهت بهمِ
His merits, his ideals, and his loftiness
Are a collection of virtue in him without division
وقد قصدتُ مراعاةَ النظير لهم
مِن جُلَّنار ومن وَردٍ ومن عَنَمِ
His traits to those remembering them became consistent
Did he come to Sheba? In the pen and the be?
رَفَعتُ حالي إِليهم إِذ خفضت وقد
نصبتُ طَرفي إلى تَوجيه رسلهمِ
So listen to the consistency of the aspects of my praise for him
And understand its meanings if you are of understanding
طربتُ في البُعد من تمثيل قربهمُ
وَالمَرءُ قد تَزدَهيه لذَّةُ الحلمِ
Revered in the agreement of praisers for him
In pardon if able or glory when avenging
عاتبت نَفسي وَقُلتُ الشيبُ أَنذرني
وأَنتِ يا نفسُ عنه اليوم في صَممِ
The most eloquent despite exaggeration
About limiting some of what he deserves more than gifts
لا برَّ صدقي وعزمي في العُلى قسمي
إِن لَم أَردَّكِ ردَّ الخيل باللُجمِ
If he wanted to drown the enemies
The land would be an ocean with no shallows entered
وَقَد هُديتُ إلى حسن التخلُّص من
غيّ النَسيب بمدحي سيِّد الأُمَمِ
It's no exaggeration if I say his determination
Nearly folds eras of ancient times
مُحمَّدٌ أَحمَدُ الهادي البَشير بن عب
د اللَّه فخر نِزارٍ باطِّرادِهمِ
Compare him to the sea and the distinction is clear
Where are oceans to the sweetened brackish mail coat?
عزُّ الذَليلِ ذَليلُ العزِّ مبغضُه
فاِعجب لعكس أَعاديه وذلِّهمِ
His allusion--how much illness in people it cured
And Jesus has no hand in it so do not suspect
هو القسيمُ له أَوفى القسيمَ على
نَفي القسيم ولا ترديد في القسمِ
Adam, when the indicator of his error appeared
Through it pled to God in antiquity
زاكي النِجار علوُّ المجد ناسَبَه
زاهي الفَخار كَريمُ الجَدِّ ذو شَمَمِ
Through it Pharaoh called his followers
When Moses escaped their magic's arrows
أَفضالُه وَمَعاليه ورفعتُه
جمعٌ من الفضل فيه غير مُنقسمِ
The guidance shone so his legislation guided
The nations when the straight path became clear
أَوصافُه اِنسجمت للذاكرين لها
في هل أَتى في سَبا في نون والقَلمِ
By God, none are guided to a doctrine
Of God's words of wisdom except through his guidance
فاِسمع تناسبَ أَطرافِ المديح له
واِفهم معانيه إِن كنت ذا فَهَمِ
He negated through his confirmation and tradition
Ignorance we stray with from elucidated morsels
معظَّمٌ باِئتلاف المعنيين له
من عفو مقتدرٍ أَو عزِّ منتَقِمِ
No return for the misguided from his nation's path
Yes, by his revealing elucidation of darknesses
كلَّ البَليغُ وقد أطرى مبالغةً
عَن حصرِ بعض الَّذي أولى من النِعمِ
His miracle turned gazelles without interpretation
Racing to their horizon without him herding them
لَو أَنَّه رام إِغراق العداة له
لأَصبح البَرُّ بحراً غير مقتَحَمِ
The knowledgeable man ignored the transgressor and told him
A miracle or magic you see that I should prohibit?
ولا غلوَّ إذا ما قُلتُ عزمتُه
تَكاد تَثني عهودَ الأَعصر القُدُمِ
There is no objection to his prophecy
For he is the honest so trust the truth and adhere
قاسوه بالبَحر وَالتَفريقُ متَّضحٌ
أَينَ الأُجاجُ من المستَعذَب الشَبِمِ
Recalling him in the mind appeared to us
When he toured by night and led the messengers in prayer
تَلميحُه كَم شَفى في الخلق من عِلَلٍ
وَما لعيسى يَدٌ فيها فَلا تَهِمِ
He is the worlds, indefinable in their totality
And annexing part to whole in greatness
وآدمٌ إذ بدا عنوانُ زلَّته
به توسَّل عند اللَه في القِدَمِ
The refinement of his instinct enriched him beyond breeding
In words, deeds, manners and principles
به دعا إِذ دَعا فرعونُ شيعتَه
موسى فأفلتَ من تَسهيم سحرهمِ
His forefathers have not ceased being praiseworthy since they were known
So he was the most praiseworthy of them by their consensus
لاح الهُدى فَهَدى تَشريع ملَّته
لمّا بدا لسلوكِ المنهج الأَممِ
His brilliance is the sun in dispersing the collected darkness
And his worth the sun did not perceive or cast
وَاللَه لَولا هُداه ما اِهتدى أَحَدٌ
لمذهبٍ من كلام اللَه ذي الحِكمِ
How many armies he defeated and divided them
So widows belong to widows and babies to orphans
نَفى بإِيجابه عنّا وسنَّتِه
جَهلاً نضلُّ به عن واضِح اللَقمِ
Badr left them no full moons and in Uhud
No one remained when their elite were culled
ولا رجوعَ لغاوي نهج ملَّته
بَلى بإرشاده الكشّاف للغُمَمِ
Does not the reward of abundant good flow
For one cautious of misfortunes befalling without sleep?
ردَّت بمُعجزه من غير تَوريةٍ
له الغَزالةُ تَعدو نحوَ أُفقهمِ
If he extends a palm to distribute the bounty they
Are between the given, the newcomer, and the receiver
تجاهلَ العارفُ الباغي فقال له
أَمعجزٌ ما تَرى أَم سحرُ مُجتَرِمِ
He realizes the gesture of one visiting him needy
So gives without tiring or boredom
وما عليه اِعتراضٌ في نبوَّته
وهو الصَدوق فَثِق بالحقِّ واِلتزمِ
A sun, moon and stars, lighted by him
His order beautified from branch to root
وَقصدُ إِحضاره في الذِهن لاح لنا
لَمّا سَرى فيؤمُّ الرسلَ من أمَمِ
His loftiness was too great for partnership
For he is the leader, leader of revered leaders
هُوَ العوالمُ عن حصرٍ بأَجمعِها
وَملحق الجزءِ بالكلّي في العِظمِ
For describers, his heights grow every period
Generating meanings whereby words did not stand
تَهذيبُ فطرته أَغناهُ عَن أَدَبٍ
في القول والفعل والأخلاق والشيَمِ
My innovative praise for one who left no innovations
Benefiting my profit, so if I'm verbose, do not blame me
ما زالَ آباؤُهُ بالحمد مذ عُرفوا
فَكانَ أَحمدهم وفق اِتِّفاقِهمِ
How the mind delved in words praising him
Except bringing a string not unthreaded
ضياؤُهُ الشَمسُ في تَفريق جمع دُجىً
وقدره الشَمسُ لم تُدرك ولم تُرمِ
Did the rarities of my words when they came inform me
That it is praise of the best of Arabs and non-Arabs?
وَكَم غزا لِلعِدى جَمعاً فقسَّمه
فالزَوجُ للأيمِ والمَولودُ لليُتمِ
My ornate praise of his heights is systematic
In the best systematically, in the best systematically
فمن يماثلُه أَو من يجانسُه
أَو من يقاربُه في العِلم والعَلمِ
My repeating words settled beautifully describing the towering banner
The son of the towering banner, the son of the towering banner
لَقَد تقمَّص بُرداً وشَّعته له
فخراً يدُ الأَعظَمين البأسِ والكَرَمِ
And his good, pure household, he came
In did he come? Manifestly emphasizing their superiority
تَكميلُ قدرته بالحلم متَّصفٌ
مَع المهابة في بشر وفي أَضمِ
They are protection for creation, through whom salvation is hoped
Oh, the success of one beautified by following them
شَيئان شِبههما شيئان منه لنا
نداهُ في المحل مثلُ البُرء في السَقمِ
Obey them and beware disobeying, you'll be saved when
The faces whiten, becoming like charcoal in the Fire
سامي الكِناية مهزولُ الفصيل إذا
ما جاءَه الضَيف أَبدى بِشر مُبتسمِ
They see extending palms as profit, not knowing
Any word for them but yes
لا يسلبُ القِرنَ إِيجاباً لرِفعته
وَيسلبُ النقصَ من إِفضاله العممِ
The meadow was never devoid of dew, its scents blooming
Better than their attributes being unleashed
يَجزي العداةَ بعدوانٍ مشاكلةً
وَالفَضلُ بالفضل ضعفاً في جزائهمِ
The white of virtues, black of vices, red of cheeks
Green of abodes, so compose describing their condition
ساوت شجاعتُه فيهم فصاحته
فردَّهم معجزاً بالكَلم والكَلِمِ
Their interpretation, virtues, and pride
Is in their knowledge, ideals, and generosity
ماضيه كالبرق والتَشبيه متَّضحٌ
ينهلُّ في إِثره ما لاح صوبُ دمِ
Creation cannot enumerate their merit
In knowledge, forbearance, favors, and benevolence
إِذا فرائدُ جيشٍ عنده اِتَّسقت
مَشى العُرَضنة والشعواءُ في ضَرمِ
Beauty arranged, beneficence matched, and
Favor coincided in their cohesion
كَفاهُ نصراً على تَصريع جيشهم
رُعبٌ تُراعُ له الآساد في الأُجُمِ
The wind never blew fragrance unless
It was scented by their land one day
لم تبقِ بدرٌ لهم بدراً وفي أُحُدٍ
لَم يَبقَ من أَحَدٍ عند اِشتقاقهمِ
They remain gentle, gentle in manner
Gentleness is well-known to their nature
أَلَم يفد أَجرُ برٍّ جاد في ملأ
لم يستحل باِنعكاسٍ عن عطائهمِ
They pardon every sin when able
Following their munificence when pardoning
إِن مدَّ كفّاً لتقسيم النَوال فهم
ما بين مُعطىً وَمُستجدٍ ومُستَلمِ
Establishing justice, they implemented its foundations
The wolf and lamb harmonize in the pasture
درى إِشارة من وافاه مُجتدياً
فجادَ ما جادَ مرتاحاً بلا سأمِ
Their good opinion increased lucidity and their stinginess
With their honor and munificence overflowed like blood
شَمسٌ وبدرٌ ونجم يُستضاء به
ترتيبُه اِزدانَ من فرعٍ إلى قدمِ
If you wish to criticize while praising, say
No flaws in them but excessive attainment
جلَّت معاليه قَدراً عن مُشاركةٍ
وهو الزَعيم زَعيمُ القادة البُهمِ
They eternally bewilder enemies
As if they love whiteness in heights
للواصفين عُلاه كلَّ آونةٍ
تَوليدُ معنىً به الأَلفاظُ لم تَقُمِ
Whoever lacks insight and guidance
Take their attributes' riddles and mysteries
إِبداع مدحي لمن لم يُبقِ من بِدعٍ
أَفاد رِبحي فإن أَطنبتُ لم أُلَمِ
They followed the sweet down with the sword's slashing
Where the cheek is caressed by the drawing sword
ما أَوغلَ الفكرُ في قَولٍ لمدحته
إِلّا وَجاء بعِقدٍ غير مُنفصمِ
Say of Ali, the prince of bees, their pride
What you wish, following praise's capacity and judge
فَهَل نوادرُ قَولي إِذ أَتت علمت
بأنَّها مَدحُ خير العُرب والعَجمِ
Do not object to my praising him
For I am not suspect in extolling my children
تطريز مدحيَ في عَلياهُ مُنتظمٌ
في خير منتظم في خير منتظمِ
They are united, gathered and never differed
If not for paternalism, we'd say they're equal
تكرار قَولي حَلا في الباذخ العَلم
اِبن الباذخ العَلم ابن الباذِخ العَلمِ
Entrusting my heart with loving them fortified me
A pillar not toppled by their care through them
وآله الطاهِرون المُجتَبون أَتى
في هل أَتى ظاهِراً تنكيتُ فضلهمِ
Praise be to Allah constantly, eternally
For restoring my people to me through loving them
هم عصمةٌ للوَرى تُرجى النجاةُ بهم
يا فوز من زانَه حسنُ اِتِّباعهمِ
My adherence in religion by their effort
The truth of their love still inspires my heart
أَطعهمُ واِحذَر العِصيان تنجُ إِذا
بيضُ الوجوه غدت في النار كالفَحمِ
When my sin necessitates my perdition
I actualize my hopes in them, necessitating my bounty
بُسطُ الأَكفِّ يَرون الجودَ مغنمةً
لا يعرفون لهم لفظاً سوى نَعمِ
They are the way to the gates of Paradise tomorrow
So I do not fear stumbling footsteps with them
ما الروضُ غِبَّ النَدى فاحَت روائحُه
يَوماً بأَضوَع من تَفريغ نعتِهمِ
I stripped the enemies' necks for them of spears
Severing necks with an unblemished blade
بيضُ المَكارِم سودُ النقع حمرُ ظبىً
خضرُ الديار فدبِّج وصفَ حالهمِ
I depicted emphasizing my love for them but
I have not ceased infatuating my fervor with them, with them
تَفسيرُهم وَمَزاياهم وَفخرُهمُ
بعِلمهم وَمَعاليهم وجودِهمِ
Through them my poem was adorned and my pain subsided
And how my knowledge expanded and my banner exalted!
لا يَستَطيع الورى تعديدَ فضلهم
في العلم والحلم والأَفضال والكَرَمِ
I folded away from all things delighted in
Stingily when detailing their praise delighted me
الحسنُ ناسقَ والإحسانُ وافقَ وال
إِفضال طابقَ ما بين اِنتظامهمِ
When I make recommendations praising them
Their mention sweetens my tongue and essence
ما طابَ تَعليلُ نشرِ الريح إذ نسمت
إلّا لإلمامها يوماً بأَرضِهمِ
I omitted the love of other than the Prophet's household and do not
Praise other nor laud nor hurl
من التعطُّف ما زالوا على خُلقٍ
إِنَّ التعطّفَ معروفٌ لخلقهمِ
My heart's restriction in praising them is my honor
In both lives, so my pride is in praising them
يعفونَ عَن كُلِّ ذنبٍ إذا قدروا
مُستتبعين نداهم عند عَفوِهمِ
I scattered in joy describing them my praise
And only attained my gifts through their prestige
تمكينُ عَدلٍ لهم أَرسَوا قواعدَه
يَرعى به الذئبُ في المَرعى مع الغنمِ
I was rewarded in my words, I exaggerated in my wisdom
I eternalized my concerns, I quenched all my thirst
وظنُّهم زادَ إيضاحاً وَبخلُهُم
بعرضِهم وَنَداهم فاض كالديمِ
I attained safety from the sea of poetry and
Took its path to devise a pearl describing them
ان شئتَ في معرِض الذمِّ المديح فقل
لا عَيبَ فيهم سوى إِكثارِ نيلهمِ
And his loyal, pure companions, he came
A dual inclusion of my praise for their assembly
محقِّقون لتوهيم العِدى أَبَداً
كأَنَّهم يعشقون البيض في القِمَمِ
My words and meanings were consistent in their harmony
In praise of the most wondrous past of sword and pen
من كُلِّ كاسرِ جَفنٍ لا هدوَّ له
من الغِرار فخذ أَلغاز وصفهمِ
Balanced, proper, approved, good
Assisted, protector, empowered, bold
هم أَردَفوا عَذَب الخَطّي جائلةً
حيث الوشاحُ بضرب الصَارم الخذمِ
My rhymed prose and simple meter for him
So the most wondrous composition rhymed for him, integrated
قُل في عليٍّ أَمير النَحل غُرَّتهم
ما شئتَ وفق اِتِّساعِ المدح واِحتكمِ
The meter and meaning were composed by me for him in
Speech stirred by it, composed by the chanting with melody
لا تعرضنَّ لتعريضي بمدحتِه
فإِنّني في وِلادي غيرُ متَّهمِ
And it came with words for him, integrated with
Words, racing with which the racers chant
همُ همُ اِئتلفوا جمعاً وما اِختلفوا
لَولا الأبوَّة قلنا باِستوائهمِ
Do not accept my condensed praise of him, and listen
To my widespread praise between sanctum and sanctuary
إِيداع قَلبي هواهم شاد لي بهم
من العناية رُكناً غير منهدِمِ
My rhyming prose systematically and pride in my wisdom
Its words are pearls of wisdom from my mouth
الحَمدُ لِلَّه حَمداً دائماً أَبَداً
على مواردَتي قَومي بحبِّهمِ
You, master of both worlds, are my reliance
To facilitate what I hope and my pillar
إِنَّ اِلتزاميَ في ديني بجدِّهم
ما زالَ يفعم قَلبي صدقُ ودِّهمِ
I incorporated praising you though times are grim
And you are the noblest one hoped for in tribulation
إِذا تزواج إِثمي فاِقتضى نقمي
حقّقتُ فيهم رَجائي فاِقتَضى نعمي
How you have favored without favor upon a fearful one
Beware the descent of adversities without sleep!
هم المجاز إِلى باب الجنان غداً
فَلَستُ أَخشى وهم لي زلَّةَ القَدمِ
Eloquence's beauty showed us a miracle from you
Before which the most eloquent stutter with muteness
جرَّدتُ منهم لأعناق العدى قُضباً
تبري الرقابَ بحدٍّ غير منثَلمِ
You were victorious through awe and the divine decree sufficed
Your victory's knot no blinker can untie
حقَّقتُ إِيهام توكيدي لحبِّهم
ولم أَزَل مغرياً وجدي بهم بهمِ
How many contumacious brute you split with a hand
Splitting with a vengeful hand for God, committed
بهم ترصَّع نظمي واِنجلى أَلَمي
وكم توسَّع علمي واِعتلى عَلَمي
So who equals you in merit and benevolence?
You are the greatest of all God's creations
طَويتُ عَن كُلِّ أَمر يُستَلذُّ به
كشحاً وقد لذَّ لي تفصيل مدحهمِ
My skill refused to profess my request
When it saw the currents of your pouring generosity
إِذا أَتَيتُ بِتَرشيحٍ لمدحتهم
حلّى لِساني وجيدي فضلُ ذكرهمِ
Connect my poem's beginning with what I attain with it
A beautiful conclusion succeeding an excellent beginning
حذفتُ ودَّ سِوى آل الرَسول ولم
أَمدح سِواهم ولم أَحمَد ولَم أَرُمِ
تَقييدُ قَلبي بمدحي فيهم شَرفي
في النشأتين ففخري في مديحهمِ
سمَّطتُ من فَرحي في وصفهم مِدَحي
ولَم أَنَل منحي إلّا بجاهِهِمِ
جزّيتُ في كلمي أَغليتُ في حكمي
أَبديتُ من هممي أَرويتُ كلَّ ظمي
نلتُ السَلامةَ من بحر القريض وقد
سلكتُه لاِختراعي درَّ وصفهمِ
وَصحبُه الأوفياءُ الأَصفياء أَتى
تضمينُ مزدوجٍ مدحي لجمعهمِ
لَفظي وَمَعنايَ قد صحَّ اِئتلافُهما
بمدح أَروعَ ماضي السَيف والقَلَمِ
موازنٍ مازنٍ مستحسنٍ حَسَنٍ
معاونٍ صائنٍ مستمكنٍ شهمِ
تأَلَّف اللفظُ والوَزنُ البسيط له
فاِطرَب له من بديع النظم منسجمِ
وأَلَّف الوَزنُ والمعنى له لسني
بِمقوَلٍ غير ذي عيٍّ ولا وجمِ
وَجاء باللَفظ فيه وهو مؤتلفٌ
باللَفظ يحدو به الحادون بالنَغمِ
لا ترض إِيجازَ مدحي فيه واِصغ إلى
مَدحي الَّذي شاعَ بين الحلِّ والحرمِ
تسجيع منتظمي والغرُّ من حكمي
ألفاظها بِفَمي دُرٌّ من الحكمِ
وأَنتَ يا سيِّدَ الكَونين معتَمدي
في أَن تُسهِّل ما أَرجو ومعتَصمي
أَدمجتُ مدحك والأيّام عابسةٌ
وأَنتَ أَكرمُ من يُرجى لدى الأزمِ
وَكَم مننتَ بلا منٍّ على وَجلٍ
من اِحتراس حلول الخطبِ لم يَنَمِ
حسنُ البيان أَرانا منك معجزةً
أَضحت تقرُّ لديها الفصحُ بالبكمِ
نُصِرتَ بالرُعب والأَقدارُ كافيةٌ
وَعَقد نصركَ لم يحلُله ذو أَضمِ
كَم ماردٍ حردٍ شَطرته بيدٍ
تَشطيرَ منتقمٍ باللَه مُلتَزمِ
فمن يُساويكَ في فضلٍ ومكرمةٍ
وأَنتَ أَفضَلُ خلق اللَه كلِّهمِ
براعتي أَبت التَصريح في طلبي
لما رأَت من غوادي جودِك السَجمِ
أَلحِق بحسن اِبتدائي ما أَنالُ به
حسنَ التخلُّص يَتلو حُسنَ مُختَتَمِ
