كَوكبُ الصُبح قد بَدا يَحكيك

فاِمزج الكاسَ يا رشا من فيك

The morning star has appeared, telling you

So mix the cup, O Rasha, with what is in you

بادِر الصُبحَ بالصَبوح فقد

فاح ريحُ الصَبا وصاحَ الديك

Hasten the dawn with dawn, for the breeze

Of the zephyr has blown, and the rooster crowed

وأَدِرها عليَّ مُشرقةً

عَن سَنى البدر في الدُجى تُغنيك

And pass it around to me radiant

From the splendor of the full moon in the darkness singing to you

واِدعُ في الأنس وَالسرور بها

وَدَعِ الهمَّ شأنُه شانيك

And call for intimacy and joy with it

And leave anxiety - its matter concerns you

هيَ عينُ الحياة فاِحي بها

روحَ صبٍّ بروحِه يَفديك

It is the spring of life, so revive with it

A passionate soul with his soul that ransoms you

إن ضَللتَ السَبيلَ في غَسَق

فبِمِشكاةِ نورها تَهديك

If you lose your way in the darkness

With the lantern of its light it guides you

واصِل الراحَ ما حَييتَ ولا

تُصغ سَمعاً لعاذلٍ يُغويك

Keep on drinking as long as you live and don't

Listen to the ear of a critic seducing you

واِهجر اللائمين إِن غَضِبوا

إِنَّ فيها جميعَ ما يُرضيك

And abandon the blamers if they get angry

With it is everything that satisfies you

هيَ لا شكَّ آيةٌ ظهرت

فاِنفِ عنها مقالَ ذي التَشكيك

It is no doubt a sign that has appeared

So turn away the words of those suspicious of it

قل لميتِ الغَرام قُم سَحَراً

واِصطحبها فإِنَّها تُحييك

Tell the dead lover to rise at dawn

And accompany her for she brings you to life

لا تقل إِثمُها يَحلُّ بنا

فهيَ من كُلِّ مأثم تُنجيك

Do not say its sinfulness descends upon us

For it saves you from all wrongdoing

يا عذولي أَسرفتَ في عَذلي

كفَّ عنّي فَما جرى يكفيك

Oh You who blame, you went too far blaming me

Stop with me, for what has happened suffices you

خلِّني وَالمُدام في شُغُلٍ

واِشتغِل أَنتَ بالَّذي يَعنيك
