You who stored tenderness and passion in me
And lent your smiling morning to me
Whoever saw you frowning
Wandered drunk with love, so what of one you kissed
If all beauty did you justice
You would be lord and your servants abound
They say dawn parted you, but even if
I judged it, I would trample dawn under your feet
O you who vowed to melt me away in yearning
Enough that with your coldness you fulfilled your vow
And you, O sickly eyelid, will you not
Stop wronging others besides those you have wronged
You robbed me of my beautiful patience, and still
That was not enough, so you clothed me in your sickness
