1. وَعَلى سَلبها الوقارَ فَكَم أه

    دَت ثباتاً إلى وقارِ الحليمِ

    Though robbed of dignity, how much she sighed

    To win composure like the steadfast sage

  2. وأَذمَّت كرامَ قَومٍ فذُمَّت

    وَذمامُ الكرام غيرُ ذميمِ

    And faulted honor in a folk, so chided

    But censure of the noble is no outrage
