Peace upon the Lord of virtues and loftiness,
Upon the teacher of the world, upon the guide of righteousness,
Upon the most high and eminent, upon the unparalleled of all creation,
Upon the one who ascended in glory, the most noble climber,
Upon the confluence of two seas in merit and bounty,
Upon the rising-place of two suns in light and brilliance,
Upon the exemplar of the generous and righteous folk,
Upon the guide of seekers and those hoping for favor,
Peace from a lover thankful whose longing has adorned
Our assemblies with necklaces and finery,
For no gratitude can fully attain
Some portion of what the Bestower freely gave,
And how can gratitude rival the blessings of the Giver
Who grants favor without obligation, authority without oppression?
