يا فتى بالبديع حل كلامه

وعن القلب قد ازال كلامه

O youth, he has perfected his speech

And removed any speech from his heart

من بديع النظام ارسلت لغزا

مغلقا فيه قوة وفخامه

I sent you an intricate riddle

With power and grandeur enclosed in it

معنوي لم يستحل بانعكاس

عند تصريفه تزول الملامه

Meaningful, it cannot be revealed

By its decline the blame disappears

ملحق بالطباق ابدعت حقا

في المباني تركيبه ونظامه

Attached to paradox, you truly perfected

Its structure and composition in the foundations

طيب النشر طال بحرا ومنه

كم غدا الزهر مخرجا اكمامه

The good spread, the sea is long

Many flowers emerged from it covering their buds

كامل وافر مديد بسيط

جاء تخليعه عليه علامه

Complete, abundant, extended, simple

His cloak came to him as a sign

واقفا قد تركته يترامى

فوق الاعتاب هيبة وكرامه

I left him standing, towering

Above the threshold, with awe and dignity

تهرع الناس والوفود اليه

تارة خلفه وطورا أمامه

People and delegations flock to him

Sometimes behind, other times before him

بان تصحيفه وان زال منه

صدره آب قافلا بالسلامه

If it suffers corruption and disappears from him

His chest closes with farewell greetings

طارة جيبه اروم فتوحا

لو تراني وقد فضضت ختامه

At times his pocket whispers conquests

If only you could see me after breaking its seal

سيدي قد قرعت بابك جد لي

بالرضا لا قرعت سن ندامه

My master, I have knocked your door in earnest

Not the knock of regretful years

وابق بحر شعري يهدي سريعا

دره المنتقى ويبدي نظامه
