ودّعتُها وَمَدامعي
تنهلُّ بالدَّمعِ الطَّليق
I bid her farewell while my tears
Were pouring down ceaselessly
فَبَكت فأذرَت أَدمُعاً
في صفحةِ الخَدّ الأنِيق
She wept and shed copious tears
On her soft, delicate cheek
ومضَت تَعَضّ بنانَها
بين التلهُّف والشّهيق
She went on, biting her lips
Between sighing and catching her breath
فرأيتُ دُرّاً ساقطاً
من نرجِسَينِ على شَقيق
I saw a pearl had fallen
From her narcissi upon anemone
ورأيت مبيضّ اللُّجَيـ
ـنِ يعَضّ محمَرّ العَقيق
And I saw coral's whiteness
Biting on red carnelian
