بَلَدٌ أعارَتْهُ الحمامةُ طَوْقَها
وكساهُ حُلّةَ ريشِهِ الطّاووسُ
A land lent its necklace a dove,
And dressed it in the peacock's plume,
وكأنّ هاتيك الشقائقَ قَهْوَةٌ
وكأنّ ساحاتِ الديارِ كؤوسُ
As though those anemones were coffee,
And the courtyards were all drinking cups
