1. وَمُجَرّرٍ في الأرضِ ذيلَ عسيبِهِ

    حَميلَ الزبَرجَدَ منه جِسمُ عَقيق

    With a trailing robe over the earth he moves,

    His body formed of emerald and ruby hews,

  2. يَجري وَلَمعُ البرقِ في آثارِهِ

    مِن كَثرةِ الكبَواتِ غَيرَ مفيق

    He runs – the lightning flashes in his track –

    His speed’s so great he does not stay awake.

  3. وَيَكادُ يَخرُجُ سرعةً من ظِلِّهِ

    لو كان يرْغبُ في فراق رفيق

    He seems about to part from his own shade

    Did he but wish to leave his friend behind.
