My grey hair has banished the joy of youth
Grey hair has cast darkness when it shone
I decreed the shadow of youth would pass
When loyalty to me was transformed
Can you find for me any traces of my youth
He who feels the pain, seeks the cure
Shall I dress my greyness in the blackness of dye
Making for the dawn a nightly veil
How can I hope for the loyalty of dye
If I cannot find the loyalty of youth
And of a gentle breeze, the soul of the zephyr
It folded night and bestowed tranquility
It travelled and with it the soulmate of life
Upon the dead earth, the sky weeps
So from the sound of thunder driving the clouds
As the stallion hears the bellowing screams
And in its sides, lightning kindles
The flashes of swords brandishing brightness
Then darkness remained of the night
Oh dawn, bring the light
Oh wind, whether you passed by the beloved
And watered from it the thirsty meadows
Then drive to me the rainclouds
That I may fill them with my tears as water
And my weeping waters a quarter of youth
Which still in the meadow waters weeping
Do not deprive a ruin of dew
Whether it approaches or keeps its distance
And if you are unaware of it, its pillars
The blazing sun burns it to embers
And do not wonder, for the trenches of passion
The scent of its ruins perfumes the breeze
And I have among them an ardent love
From which I gained sickness of body
An abode the misfortunes threaded to
As prowling wolves rush with evil
I accompanied it through the gloomy darkness
And I visited it in obscure ruins
Beyond you, oh sea, is my paradise
With it I wore bliss, not misery
If I attempt to reach it one morning
You interpose between me and it, an evening
If only I was granted my wish
When the sea prevented a meeting
I would mount the crescent as a boat
Until in it I embrace consciousness
